Make a difference. Every day.

Are you passionate about orthopedic patients and interested in moving forward with the team in our development? We are currently making a special effort in quality, education, and competence, and are therefore looking for a nurse who will help us set the direction for our Orthopedic Department!

We are an orthopedic inpatient department with an emergency mission for orthopedics around the clock, every day of the week, within the surgical area (VO) of surgery - orthopedics ENT (ear, nose, throat) intensive and perioperative care at the Hospital in Ystad. The department has 14 inpatient beds and primarily cares for patients with everyday traumatic injuries such as hip fractures.

At our workplace, we implement Region Skåne's Competence and Service Model, which provides a clear structure for your learning and development opportunities within our organization. The Hospital in Ystad also works based on the Magnet Model, a framework built on years of research on how we can provide the highest quality care, strengthen our interprofessional teamwork, and provide our employees with clear professional development.

We are a department that values knowledge sharing, collaboration, and improvement work. With us, you will be part of an engaged and supportive interprofessional team, and we offer the opportunity to develop in mentoring and pedagogical methods. You will work in an organization with short decision-making paths and with present leadership. Our team has a strong focus and experience in supporting and guiding colleagues and students.

As part of the Magnet Model, the Hospital in Ystad has a management-wide forum for nursing issues - Nursing Steering Group, where representatives from inpatient and outpatient care meet regularly and have the mandate to make decisions on management-wide nursing issues.

The Hospital in Ystad has an educational unit and during the semesters, we welcome a number of students for workplace-based education (VFU). The Orthopedic Department works with student rooms and peer-learning, which is a popular concept among our students.

Within the VO, there are also surgery and urology departments, surgical department planned operations, surgery, anesthesia, and intensive care department, as well as clinics with which we have good collaboration. With us, you have the opportunity for both professional and personal development.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Do you want to combine clinical work in orthopedics with an active and meaningful role as a mentor? Then this could be the position for you!

The interprofessional collaboration is central to the unit and plays a crucial role in our patients' recovery. Patient-centered care is promoted, among other things, through our interdisciplinary rounds and nursing rounds. Our goal is to increase patients' and relatives' participation in care and enhance their knowledge about their illness and treatment.

With us, you will be responsible for the nursing of orthopedic patients in need of pre- and postoperative care. Often, our patients have advanced nursing needs and complex medical conditions that need to be addressed. We have structured care pathways for our most common patient categories and continually strive to be at the forefront of evidence-based care. Our department's responsible doctors are engaged in the department's development and work closely with the team on various improvement projects. The role also includes a clear mentoring assignment for students undergoing their workplace-based education in the department. There, you, together with the rest of the student team, contribute to ensuring that students have an educational and safe placement with us.

As a nurse in the Orthopedic Department, you have the opportunity to deepen your knowledge in areas such as wound care, palliative care, nutrition, sleep, or pain management. The nursing group also has regular nursing councils led by our representative in the Nursing Steering Group with the mandate to make decisions on nursing issues in the department.
