Project Assistant in Magnetic Resonance Physics

Workplace Description
The work will take place within the framework of the operations of the Magnetic Resonance Physics group.
The group is interdisciplinary and includes members active in various faculties, different companies, and in healthcare. The research group is located on Klinikgatan in Lund, right next to Lund University Hospital.

Job Responsibilities
Lund University has a prominent international role in the development and application of new techniques for magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). As part of ongoing projects, we are looking for a Project Assistant who can develop techniques for quantifying properties in the brain using diffusion-MRI.
We are looking for a person to work with the following tasks:
- Research on correction and reconstruction of images collected with diffusion-MRI.
- The work involves programming primarily in MATLAB.
- Work with the MRI machines available to the group.
- Summarize results in a scientific form for publication in an international journal.
- Participate in the group's activities and present results at scientific conferences.
Other tasks may also be included.
Qualifications
Requirements for the position are:
- Master's degree in engineering physics, technical mathematics, or medical technology. No requirement to have graduated, but a requirement to have progressed in education to the point of starting a thesis project.
- Experience of independent research work, such as a thesis project or a project with a clear hypothesis and quantitative analysis.
- Knowledge of programming, preferably MATLAB.
- Knowledge of deep neural networks.
- Experience in MRI research.
- Being curious, persistent, and collaborative.
Meritorious for the position is:
- The ability to structure complex problems and work methodically with data-driven solutions.
- An interest in and understanding of scientific methodology in medical image analysis.
Other
The position is a fixed-term employment for 12 months with a full-time scope. Desired start date is March 1, 2026, or by agreement.

The Department of Clinical Sciences in Lund (IKVL) is one of six departments at the Faculty of Medicine, Lund University.
