Consumer Advisor

Eskilstuna Direkt is the municipality's common contact center for information and service to the residents, users, and customers of the municipality. Everyone seeking information, help, and support from the municipality's various administrations and operations should be met in the same way and receive basic guidance and information regarding their inquiries. The unit also employs municipal advisors, an interpreter service, and budget and debt advisors.

RESPONSIBILITIES

As a consumer advisor, you provide the public with advice and guidance on consumer issues. This may involve questions related to consumer rights, pre-purchase information, and complaints. You inform about applicable laws, assist with complaints, and mediate in case of disputes. Most contact occurs via phone, but also through email, e-services, and pre-booked visits.

With us, you also work preventively by engaging with different groups of consumers. You plan and conduct lectures and training sessions for schools, associations, and businesses on consumer rights and personal finance. Media contact is also part of the role.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone with a university degree in economics, law, or behavioral science. Experience in consumer guidance is preferred, and knowledge of relevant legislation is a plus, such as the Consumer Purchase Act, the Consumer Services Act, the Package Travel Act, the Distance Contracts Act, and the Act on Agreements Outside Business Premises. The position requires good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written, and comfort in using digital tools in your work.

To thrive in this role, we see that you are a flexible and service-oriented person with an empathetic approach in conversations with people. You easily understand different situations and identify how to best provide support. It is also important that you can explain legal matters in a simple, pedagogical, and easily understandable way. You feel comfortable speaking in front of both small and large groups and can adapt your communication to the audience.
