Do you want to help create a sustainable future for our community? Are you ready to make a real difference and take us one step closer to a fossil-free and climate-neutral future? Then this could be the role for you!
The unit for sustainable community development works with environmental and social sustainability, including public health, safety, crime prevention, welfare crimes, ANDTS, crisis support, project Future Hope, etc. The unit consists of 7 developers and 2 project managers, each with different responsibilities in these areas.
The unit for sustainable community development is located within the Administration Department, where the area of responsibility is broad and the tasks varied. We provide qualified support to elected officials and the administration. Together, we are responsible for several municipality-wide issues related to safety, civil preparedness, security/crime prevention, archives, case and information management, law, sustainability, and investigation. Currently, there are 38 people working in the entire department.
We are on an exciting journey towards a fossil-free 2030 and a climate-neutral 2040. With us, you will have the opportunity to take a key role in the work to create a more sustainable future, not only for today's residents but also for future generations.
In this role, you will be a central driving force in our climate work alongside your sustainability colleagues. Through dialogue, you will challenge and inspire both internal and external stakeholders to think bigger, think differently, and together take concrete steps towards our ambitious goals. Through openness and collaboration, you create the conditions for finding common solutions that contribute to long-term sustainability.
We are now looking for a sustainability developer for a temporary position from April 2026 to May 2027.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
As a sustainability developer, you will coordinate the municipality's efforts to minimize climate-impacting emissions in the municipality's geographical area. Your work will involve close collaboration with both internal and external stakeholders to develop innovative and long-term sustainable solutions.
The role of sustainability developer with a focus on climate includes, among other things:
- developing and implementing the municipality's strategies to significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions, focusing on both local and indirect emissions.
- identifying and analyzing local sources of emissions and creating action plans to reduce climate impact from both municipal operations and other actors in the municipality.
- ensuring that the municipality's climate work aligns with national and international climate goals, including Agenda 2030 and the Paris Agreement.
- collaborating with other parts of the municipal organization, residents, businesses, and other local and regional actors to reduce climate impact and promote circular and resource-efficient solutions.
- ensuring a balance between detailed knowledge and strategic overview to make well-founded prioritizations between small and large initiatives.
QUALIFICATIONS
We are looking for someone who has:
- Relevant higher education in sustainable development, environmental science, climate strategy, or a similar field.
- Good ability to express yourself in Swedish both orally and in writing.
- Knowledge of current climate policy frameworks and environmental legislation.
We also consider it an advantage if you have:
- Experience working on projects aimed at reducing climate impact in areas such as energy, procurement, consumption, transport, or waste.
- Experience in project management and familiarity with driving cross-functional and complex initiatives involving multiple stakeholders.
- Experience in strategic work with climate issues, particularly in emissions reduction, in the public sector or larger organizations.
Your personal qualities are important to us, and we will therefore place great emphasis on them. To thrive in the role and succeed in your mission, we see that you have a good ability to take initiative and transform analyses and emissions data into concrete and actionable measures.
You are skilled at collaborating and communicating with various stakeholders at all levels while maintaining many relationships to maximize opportunities for change. We also believe that your ability to identify opportunities, even outside the box, and to effectively filter and prioritize between large and small initiatives will be valuable in this role.
Does this sound exciting? You are warmly welcome to submit your application today!
