Special Teacher at Fågelskolan

About the Role and Your Responsibilities
As a special teacher, you will:
- Plan, implement, and follow up on teaching tailored for students with intellectual disabilities (ID).
- Be involved in building the school’s pedagogical structure, routines, and learning environment.
- Work with assessments, pedagogical investigations, and action plans.
- Guide and collaborate with other staff in the work team.
- Have close cooperation with student health services, guardians, and external stakeholders.
You create opportunities for each student to develop and be motivated through a relational approach, clarifying pedagogy, and alternative and augmentative communication.
As a special teacher in a class, you are part of a team, but also the pedagogical leader who distributes the work and guides the teaching assistants you collaborate with. You work preventively to remove barriers in various learning environments and to develop work related to support measures and adjustments for our students. When necessary, you provide support for students in personal care such as toilet visits and during meals.
You are part of a larger team with experienced teachers who together develop our operations. Your assignment includes collaborating with child and youth habilitation and other external stakeholders.
We Are Looking for You
We are now looking for an engaged and experienced special teacher with a focus on ID who wants to help start a small resource school for students with ID in the age of 6.
We are looking for someone who:
- Is a licensed teacher with a special education degree focused on ID.
- Has experience working with students with intellectual disabilities, preferably in the early school years.
- Has good knowledge of adjustments, alternative and augmentative communication (AAC).
- Is confident, structured, and has a low-arousal approach.
- Enjoys working in a small setting and wants to help develop new initiatives.

About the Workplace
Fågelskolan, located in the western parts of Lund, is a K-9 school with regular and adapted primary education, with a total of about 450 students. The adapted primary school is divided into age-mixed classes and is locally integrated with the rest of the school.
