About the position

With us, we work with early interventions through counseling, support conversations, and group activities. We also offer lectures on current topics. The current position is primarily focused on preventive work with an emphasis on youth and parenting support, but also includes work with high schools for the deaf and hard of hearing. You will be part of a team that also works with Sputnik (a program for relatives of someone who drinks too much, uses drugs, or misuses medication) and support for young people who have been victims of crime.

You will work with youth who have hearing impairments as well as hearing individuals. In addition to contact with youth and families, you will also have phone contact with other people in their daily lives. Therefore, you need to be able to speak Swedish, but we would also like you to be able to use Swedish sign language in your work.

Examples of tasks:

• crime prevention work
• provide support to young victims of crime
• provide parenting support through courses, conversation support, and support groups
• conduct lectures
• collaborate with internal and external stakeholders such as the Field Group and schools

About the workplace

The Support and Prevention unit consists of the Counseling Group, the Field Group, the Support Center for Young Victims of Crime, the Mediation Service, Sputnik, and Coordinators for schools, social services, police, and leisure (SSPF). The Counseling Group is located at Nygatan 16A and consists of 7 counselors and a group leader.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who is secure and stable and has the ability to establish good contact with other people. In the role of a counselor, it is important to be attentive in your interactions with others and to have a natural ability to understand other perspectives without losing your professional integrity. It is important that you communicate clearly and can adapt your message so that it reaches all concerned.

We also expect you to have a good ability to independently plan and structure your work effectively and to quickly adjust and change your perspective and approach if the situation requires it. Since the work involves a lot of contact with other people, you should use the Swedish language in speech, but we see it as an advantage if you can also use Swedish sign language. Furthermore, good computer skills are required as the work involves documentation.

We place great emphasis on personal suitability.

Requirements:

• degree in social work of 210 credits, or another academic education of at least 210 higher education credits that the employer assesses as equivalent
• driver's license for manual transmission

Meritorious:

• documented experience in crime prevention work
• documented experience working with youth and/or parents
• knowledge of sign language
• knowledge/training in MI (motivational interviewing)

Working hours: daytime with the possibility of flexibility, some evening work may occur during periods
