Swedish Prison and Probation Service is Growing – We Are Expanding
We are now looking for more employees. Our main goal is to reduce recidivism – to break the vicious cycle. If we succeed, society will be safer for everyone. We are the authority responsible for prisons, probation, remand centers, and client transport.
The operational area (VO) Tygelsjö/Ringsjön consists of the Tygelsjö prison with 137 places for men and the Ringsjön prison with 82 places for women in security class 3, led by a prison manager along with seven correctional inspectors.
Both prisons conduct extensive VSP and investigative work, while also providing valuable employment such as a horticulture, carpentry with pallet manufacturing, mechanical workshop, assembly/packaging, kitchen and cooking, learning center, and other structured activities.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Working as a correctional officer means that you can make a difference for others and contribute to a safer society. To thrive and succeed in your role, it is important that you share the Swedish Prison and Probation Service's fundamental values of a humane view of humanity, respect for the individual, and belief in human development.
As a correctional officer, you work in teams with other professional groups and have the opportunity to help people break the vicious cycle and motivate them not to reoffend. Working in a prison is varied: care, surveillance, search, and security work are mixed with release planning and conversation and motivational work.
For newly hired correctional officers, the correctional education begins with three weeks of introduction at the workplace. This is followed by a period of initial service lasting about six months, depending on the needs of the operation and the employee. After that, the employee undergoes a mandatory eight-week basic training at our training center in Malmö. The training includes theoretical, practical, and physical components. After the basic training, there is an opportunity for an additional four weeks of specialization in various areas.
In this recruitment process, information meetings will be held either on February 16, 17, or 23 in the evening to give you a better understanding of what it means to work as a correctional officer at Ringsjön prison. If you proceed in the process, we would like you to attend one of the sessions. A separate invitation will be sent if you proceed in the process.

The position requires that you have a physical condition that allows you to act physically when the situation requires it. As the Swedish Prison and Probation Service, including Ringsjön prison, undergoes changes and expansions, it is important that you are proactive, open to rapid changes, and development-oriented.
