The Swedish Prison and Probation Service is Growing – We are Building New Facilities and Seeking More Employees

Our most important goal is to reduce recidivism – to break the vicious cycle. If we succeed, society will be safer for everyone. We are the authority responsible for prisons, probation, remand facilities, and client transport.

The operational area (VO) Lindåsa will become a prison just outside Tollarp with approximately 112 places for men in security class 3.

The work will be led by a prison chief together with 3 correctional officers. The prison will conduct extensive enforcement and investigative work, while also providing valuable activities such as gardening, kitchen, learning center, program activities, and packaging workshop. We will also place great emphasis on security work in the form of searches and relationship-building/dynamic security work.

In this advertisement, we are looking for 4 Correctional Officers.

A 6-month probationary employment may be applied.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

As a correctional officer, you can contribute to a safer society. You work in a team with other professionals and have the opportunity to help people break the vicious cycle. It is important that you share the Swedish Prison and Probation Service's fundamental values of a humane view of humanity. Working in a prison means focusing on care and security, and it is a job with clear routines. You will also work with monitoring and search tasks.

In addition, you will work with release preparations, conversations, and motivational work.

QUALIFICATIONS

Your personal qualities are important. As a correctional officer, you need to be secure, stable, have good self-awareness, sound judgment, and integrity. Together with your colleagues, you will drive the operations, so you need to have good collaboration skills and be clear in your communication. You should be able to act physically when required.

We are looking for someone who has:

• Work experience, including seasonal work, temporary employment, or self-employment. Internships and volunteer work are not equivalent to employment.
• Complete upper secondary education or other education combined with work experience that the employer deems relevant.
• Good knowledge of the Swedish language in both speech and writing.
• Good computer skills.
• Driver's license (B).

It is advantageous if you have:

• Work experience from correctional services, security work, social care, psychiatry, or healthcare and social work.
• Knowledge in relevant areas, such as behavioral science, criminology, psychiatry, law, and conflict management.
• Relevant language skills.
