Summer Temporary Position as a Correctional Officer at Tygelsjö Prison

The Swedish Prison and Probation Service is growing – we are building new facilities, renovating, and expanding, and we are now looking for more employees. Our primary goal is to reduce recidivism – to break the vicious cycle. If we succeed, society will be safer and more secure for everyone. We are the authority responsible for prisons, probation, remand detention, and client transport.

The operational area (VO) Tygelsjö/Ringsjön consists of Tygelsjö Prison with 137 places for men and Ringsjön Prison with 82 places for women in security class 3, led by a prison manager together with seven correctional officers. Both prisons conduct extensive VSP and investigative work, while also providing valuable employment opportunities such as a horticultural business, carpentry with pallet production, mechanical workshop, assembly/packaging, kitchen and cooking, learning center, and other structured activities.

The position is a summer temporary position during the period of week 24–34. A two-week introduction is included before the temporary position, with several possible start dates. The introduction can begin during weeks 15, 17, 19, 21, or 24. There is also the possibility of extending the employment after the summer temporary position ends.

As part of the recruitment process, information meetings will be held in the evening on Monday, February 16 or Tuesday, February 17. The purpose is to provide a deeper understanding of what the work as a correctional officer at Tygelsjö Prison entails. If you proceed in the process, we would like you to participate in one of the sessions. A separate invitation will be sent to relevant candidates.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

As a correctional officer, you will be part of a team where you have daily contact with clients. The tasks at the prison are varied: care, surveillance, search, and security work are mixed with release planning and conversation/motivation work.

QUALIFICATIONS

Your personal qualities are important. As a correctional officer, you need to be secure, stable, have good self-awareness, sound judgment, and integrity. Together with your colleagues, you will drive the operations, so you need to have good collaboration skills and be clear in your communication. You should be able to act physically when required.

We are looking for someone who has:

  • Work experience, including seasonal work, part-time employment, or self-employment. Internships and volunteer work are not considered equivalent to employment.
  • Completed high school education or other education combined with work experience that the Swedish Prison and Probation Service deems relevant.
  • Ability to express oneself well in spoken and written Swedish.
  • Good computer skills.
  • Driving license B.

It is advantageous if you have:

  • Work experience from correctional services, security work, social care, psychiatry, or healthcare and social work.
  • Ongoing studies in relevant fields, such as behavioral science, law, sociology, police, military service, or equivalent.
  • Knowledge in relevant areas, such as behavioral science, criminology, psychiatry, law, and conflict management.
  • Relevant language skills.

Individual salary setting applies.

The position is a summer temporary position during the period of week 24-34. A two-week introduction is included before the temporary position, with several possible start dates. The introduction can begin during weeks 15, 17, 19, 21, or 24.

Please indicate at least two alternative weeks for your desired introduction start in your application. Vacation is granted restrictively during the vacation period.
