Swedish Prison and Probation Service is Growing – We Are Hiring!

The Swedish Prison and Probation Service is expanding – we are building new facilities, renovating, and seeking more employees. Our primary goal is to reduce recidivism – to break the vicious cycle. If we succeed, society becomes safer and more secure for everyone. We are the authority responsible for prisons, probation, remand prisons, and client transports.

The Transport Department (TA) is tasked with transporting and supervising incarcerated individuals. These are the clients of the Swedish Prison and Probation Service who are moved between remand prisons and correctional facilities, to court hearings, hospitals, and more. TA also transports incarcerated individuals for agencies such as the Police, the National Board of Institutional Care, the Migration Agency, and psychiatry. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

As a Correctional Officer within the Transport Department (TA), you will be part of a team consisting of two to four people, each responsible for different roles in the execution of client transports.

The roles assigned in the workgroup are driver, transport officer, and transport leader. You will encounter a wide variety of clients of different ages, backgrounds, and experiences.

You will search, restrain, and supervise the client during transport.

The assignments of TA are varied, meaning your working hours can change from day to day. Weekend work is included, and evening and night shifts may also be required.

The times in the schedule are frame times, usually 07:00-17:00. Frame time means that the employer can change your start time based on assignments, and the end time is determined by when the assignment is completed.

It is the operations and its assignments that dictate our working hours, so there are no fixed start and end times for your workday.

Changes in start time will be communicated before the previous shift ends. For example, a shift can be between 07:00-19:00 (12 hours) or 09:00-16:00 (7 hours).

We place great emphasis on the fact that there is no fixed time for each shift, and this is something to consider if you are still interested; you must be flexible.

QUALIFICATIONS

The role places high demands on personal suitability. As a correctional officer, you need to be secure, stable, have good self-awareness, sound judgment, and integrity. Together with your colleagues, you will drive the operations, so you need to have good collaboration skills and be clear in your communication. It is important that you share the Swedish Prison and Probation Service's fundamental values of a humane view of humanity, respect for the individual, and the belief that people can develop and change.

You need to have a good physical foundation to handle a sedentary job and to be able to act physically when required.

We are looking for someone who has:

Requirements:

  • Driver's license (B) and good driving experience
  • Work experience, including seasonal work, hourly employment, or self-employment. Internships and volunteer work are not considered equivalent to employment
