Kriminalvården is Growing – We Are Looking for More Employees!
Kriminalvården is expanding – we are building new facilities, renovating, and adding to our existing ones, and we are now looking for more employees. Our most important goal is to reduce recidivism – to break the vicious cycle. If we succeed, society will be safer and more secure for everyone. We are the authority responsible for prisons, probation, detention centers, and client transports.

Operational Area Kristianstad
The operational area of Kristianstad is part of the Southern region of Kriminalvården and currently includes the Kristianstad prison, located about 10 km south of Kristianstad. At present, the prison has approximately 145 inmates and 120 employees. We are undergoing a significant capacity increase, and much is happening in the operational area in terms of renovations and new constructions. In a few years, the new prison Vä is expected to accommodate around 600 inmates and have 500 employees. The largest professional group is prison officers, but we also have healthcare professionals, administrative staff, educators, production leaders, and more.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
As a prison officer, you can contribute to a safer and more secure society. You work in teams with other professional groups and have the opportunity to help people break the vicious cycle and motivate them not to re-offend. It is important that you share Kriminalvården's fundamental values of a humane view of people, respect for the individual, and the belief that people can develop and change.
Working in a prison is varied: care, surveillance, searches, and security work are mixed with release planning and conversation and motivational work.
For newly hired prison officers, the correctional education begins with three weeks of introduction at the workplace. This is followed by an initial service period lasting between three to six months, depending on the needs of the operation and the employee. After that, the employee undergoes a mandatory eight-week basic training at our training center in Malmö. The training includes theoretical, practical, and physical components. After the basic training, there is an opportunity for an additional four weeks of specialization in various areas.
QUALIFICATIONS
Your personal qualities are important. As a prison officer, you need to be secure, stable, have good self-awareness, sound judgment, and integrity. Together with your colleagues, you drive the operations, so you need to have good teamwork skills and be clear in your communication. You should also be able to act physically when required.
We place great emphasis on personal suitability.
We are looking for someone who has:
- A completed upper secondary education or other education combined with work experience deemed relevant by KV.
- Work experience, including seasonal work, hourly employment, or self-employment. Internships and volunteer work are not considered equivalent to employment.

- Good computer skills.
- A valid driver's license (B).
It is an advantage if you have:
