About the Job

In this position, you will play an important and engaging role in the education of future veterinarians. You will become a natural part of the students' everyday life and actively contribute to their clinical development in diagnostic imaging.

You will work with diagnostic imaging for small animals and have the opportunity to use and develop your skills in ultrasound, radiography, CT, and MRI.

You will work towards set goals according to UDS's mission. For all employees in the diagnostic imaging unit, supervision and teaching of future veterinary nurses and veterinary students is included in the daily work.

The working hours are currently scheduled for weekdays during the day.

Your Background

You have:

• a veterinary degree valid in Sweden and have completed an ECVDI residency program (small animals)
• pedagogical training and previous experience teaching veterinary students in diagnostic imaging and anatomy
• experience working as a veterinary radiologist with veterinary diagnostic imaging at a university animal hospital or a larger animal clinic, where you have worked with performing, interpreting, and reporting ultrasound, radiography, CT, and MRI examinations on small animals.

You are proficient in English, both spoken and written. Knowledge of Swedish is an advantage and is expected to deepen.

You should be accustomed to handling computers and information systems in an animal hospital environment.

Previous experience working at SLU UDS diagnostic imaging unit is an advantage.

You value good relationships with colleagues, have good teamwork skills, and function well in a team. Great importance will be placed on personal qualities such as collaboration, curiosity, motivation, interest in communication, and service. As a person, you are structured, proactive, and can handle sometimes demanding and logistically challenging situations.

About Us

The Department of Clinical Sciences is responsible for undergraduate education, research, and doctoral education in anesthesiology, diagnostic imaging, animal care, epidemiology, laboratory animal science, surgery, clinical chemistry, medicine, and reproduction. Our activities span all animal species across all subjects.

At SLU University Animal Hospital (UDS), education, research, and advanced veterinary care go hand in hand. We train tomorrow's veterinarians and veterinary nurses and provide first-class care for companion animals, competition animals, and production animals. We also disseminate knowledge to the public. By combining established knowledge with the latest research results, we develop the future of veterinary care.

Under one roof, we offer healthcare for horses, dogs, cats, and other small animals. In addition to modern, purpose-built facilities, we have access to advanced diagnostic imaging and a veterinary medical specialist laboratory. UDS also includes an ambulatory clinic that goes out to stables and farms to examine and treat horses and livestock.

The diagnostic imaging unit is one of the leading units in veterinary medical imaging in Europe, and we are an accredited training site for the European specialist examination in the subject, both for small and large animals. The unit is well-equipped with modern radiography, fluoroscopy, ultrasound, 64-slice CT for small and large animals, 1.5 T MRI for small animals, 0.27 T MRI system for standing horses, and scintigraphy for small and large animals, including our own Hotlab.

We have many international contacts, and our nurses are specialized in diagnostic imaging. We are about 14 employees divided into radiologists and radiology nurses.
