About the Workplace

The position of Business and Establishment Manager is located within the Democracy Department of the Municipal Executive Office. Your immediate supervisor is the department head. The mission of the Democracy Department is under development, focusing on changes in both working methods and processes. We work in an activity-based office environment that allows you to choose your workplace depending on the task, and some of your working hours may, if the business allows, be located elsewhere.
Job Responsibilities
As the Business and Establishment Manager, you are responsible for creating and developing trustworthy collaborations with elected representatives, businesses, and other stakeholders based on the municipality's business strategy, focusing on growth, establishments, and a strong business climate. The role includes budget responsibility but not personnel responsibility.
The work includes, among other things, issues regarding new establishments through active work both within the organization and with relevant external actors. In your role, you also support existing companies that wish to grow and develop their operations.
Your responsibilities include business navigation, conducting business breakfasts and company visits, building networks both internally and externally, and monitoring the development of the business climate through relevant rankings and indicators. You will participate in various forums where you engage in strategic discussions concerning both community development and socioeconomics. You coordinate efforts both internally and externally on regional and local business issues and lead the Ale Business Forum, which is a broad platform for dialogue between the business community and the municipality. The work also includes handling and presenting matters for decisions in the municipal executive board and municipal council.
You need to thrive in a changing everyday life characterized by both operational and strategic issues where you tackle new questions and challenges with curiosity and commitment.
Qualifications
We are looking for someone with an academic degree in social sciences, business administration, or another academic education that the employer deems equivalent. You have several years of experience in similar tasks or roles in public administration.
We prefer that you have experience in building networks and leading or coordinating forums and dialogue meetings. If you have experience in project or process management, preferably in contexts where multiple actors collaborate, we consider that an advantage. For the position, you need to have a valid driver's license B.
As a person, you are solution-oriented and proactive with the ability to see opportunities. You work in a structured manner, take responsibility, and drive work forward while being able to identify and implement improvements. Your communication skills allow you to express yourself clearly both verbally and in writing. You build trusting relationships naturally and maintain a constructive dialogue with various stakeholders within the municipality, the business community, and among external partners. You have strategic thinking, are attentive and collaborative, but at the same time comfortable working independently and taking your own initiatives.
