Proactive and socially conscious?
Then we believe you will thrive with us. The Swedish Statistics Authority SCB is the country's largest and foremost source of knowledge in statistics. Our statistics are used everywhere, at the kitchen table, in news reporting, and by decision-makers in the parliament and government.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
We are looking for one to two environmental/natural scientists or statisticians with an interest in environmental issues who want to contribute to achieving Sweden's environmental goals and international reporting requirements to the EU and UN. National environmental statistics are crucial for identifying necessary measures for a better environment and a sustainable society.
Our environmental statistics cover areas such as waste, hazardous substances, climate-impacting emissions, air pollution, and discharges into water. The operations are conducted within the framework of the Swedish Environmental Emissions Data (SMED), a unique collaboration between four organizations where SCB is one of three expert authorities producing environmental statistics on behalf of the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency and the Agency for Marine and Water Management.
We are looking for substitutes in these two areas:
- Waste statistics is an area that is rapidly developing in line with new requirements for sustainable waste management and material recycling. In the waste group, we produce statistics on, for example, packaging, food waste, and industrial waste.
- In the air and climate area, we produce statistics for, e.g., the Paris Agreement and the Air Quality Convention. Statistics that are used to follow up the goals set for Sweden regarding greenhouse gas emissions and air pollution at the UN, EU, and national levels. Statistics on discharges into water are also produced.
Working within environmental statistics requires active collaboration both internally within SCB and SMED as well as with clients and partners in other authorities. You will also have contact with users of the statistics. Established processes, quality manuals, experienced employees, and experts are available to support your work.
Do you want to ...
- produce, analyze, document, report, and communicate environmental statistics
- develop the quality and content of the statistics
- monitor and analyze issues in the environmental field
... then we believe this position could be really interesting for you!

We want you to have:
- an academic degree with environmental science, natural science, or statistics as the main subject

For this to be a good match for both you and us, it is important that you can plan, organize, and prioritize your work effectively. You are meticulous, have good analytical skills, and can process and interpret data in a quality-conscious manner. You enjoy working with complex issues.
