Material Area Manager for 5G
The Swedish Armed Forces are in a strong growth and development phase. To meet future demands for robust, secure, and accessible communication, we are now seeking a Material Area Manager for 5G, with a special focus on 5G Core, for our operations within command and information systems.
The Technology and Maintenance Office Command Systems (TVK Ledsyst) in Enköping consists of about 190 employees across seven departments. The main task of the unit is the management of the Swedish Armed Forces' command and information systems throughout their lifecycle, from development to decommissioning, during war, crisis, and peace. The Armed Forces and the unit are experiencing strong growth, which leads us to face new challenges and assignments.
Main Responsibilities
The position of Material Area Manager involves responsibility for a defined technical material area within the Swedish Armed Forces' 5G expansion. You will be responsible for the entire lifecycle of the material, from needs analysis and requirements specification to implementation, maintenance, and decommissioning. The emphasis of the role is on 5G Core (5GC) and its functions in security-critical environments.
The work is carried out in close collaboration with other parts of the Armed Forces, the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration (FMV), suppliers, and other authorities.
As a Material Area Manager, you will:
- Be responsible for the 5G material area with a focus on 5G Core including budget
- Develop, manage, and further develop technical requirements, architecture, and technical guidelines
- Participate in procurement and acquisition in collaboration with the Armed Forces, FMV, industry, and other authorities
- Follow and analyze technological developments within 5G Core, including service-based architecture
- Ensure technical integration between 5G Core, radio access networks, transport networks, and support systems
- Support implementation, testing, verification, and maintenance of systems including coverage enhancement
- Contribute technical expertise to projects, studies, and investigations
REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications
- University or engineering degree in a relevant technical field, or equivalent competence acquired in another way
- Experience working with mobile networks and communication systems
- Good knowledge of mobile network architecture and functions
- Experience in technical requirements specification and documentation
- Good ability to express yourself verbally and in writing in Swedish and English
Personal Qualities
We are looking for someone who is structured, analytical, and has a good overall perspective. You have the ability to independently drive issues within your area of responsibility and collaborate well with others. You are solution-oriented and have good communication skills. Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability.
MERITORIOUS
- Experience working with 4G/5G in security-critical or essential systems
- Knowledge of virtualization, cloud-based, and containerized network functions
- Experience collaborating with authorities or working in the public sector
- Knowledge of IT and information security
Other
Employment type: Permanent position. The Armed Forces apply a six-month probationary period for those not employed by the authority. Employment rate: Full-time. Work location: Enköping, unless otherwise agreed. Travel in service may occur. Civil position. Start date according to agreement.
