Java Developer at the Swedish Food Agency

Your Role

As a Java developer at the Swedish Food Agency, you will be part of a stable and established team that manages a mission-critical system. The system is in daily operation and provides important support for the agency's operational activities.

The role has a clear management focus and involves working with an existing Java-based system. You will work on troubleshooting, fixes, and further development of existing functionality to ensure stability and reliability over time. The work is conducted within clear frameworks and established methods, creating structure and predictability in everyday life.

Your Responsibilities

As a software developer, you will among other things:

  • Manage and ensure stable operations
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues in the production environment
  • Further develop and improve existing functionality
  • Work with technical debt and gradual modernization
  • Conduct refactoring and work on code quality
  • Work with databases and data modeling
  • Document systems, solutions, and changes
  • Follow the technical developments in the field

Unit for Digitalization and IT

The position is located in the unit for digitalization and IT, which is responsible for developing, managing, and operating the Swedish Food Agency's IT systems.

You will be part of a development team with software developers, IT architects, testers, and requirements analysts, collaborating closely with both technical roles and the business.

Your Qualifications

We are looking for someone who has:

  • A degree in IT or equivalent knowledge acquired in another way
  • At least three years of experience in Java development
  • Experience in managing and further developing existing systems
  • Experience working with legacy code and modernization
  • Experience with databases and SQL
  • Good knowledge of Java (SE and EE)
  • Good knowledge of Spring Framework / Spring Boot
  • Knowledge of SQL and relational databases (e.g., Oracle or PostgreSQL)
  • Knowledge of Git and version control
  • Very good knowledge of Swedish in speech and writing

It is an advantage if you also have experience in:

  • Working in the public sector
  • Agile working methods
  • REST API development
  • CI/CD (e.g., Jenkins, Azure DevOps, or similar)
  • Docker and containerization
  • English in speech and writing
