IT Project Manager

The project managers in the IT department play a key role in developing and ensuring modern and business-supporting IT solutions for the entire SLU organization.
About the Job
At the Project Office, 14 employees with specialist expertise in project and management leadership, requirements analysis, test management, software asset management, and environmental work are currently working. As a project manager with us, you will be responsible for leading projects and management objects with a holistic perspective and user focus within the university's various operational areas. This can vary from developing information systems that support national environmental monitoring and animal husbandry to maintaining and improving integrated student systems to ensure a good digital work environment or developing reporting services for species observations within conservation work. Your main task is to lead the work to improve and develop our IT solutions to best meet the needs of the organization. Automation and efficiency are central parts of your work to achieve the best possible results.
We are now looking for two project managers, one of whom will dedicate part of their time to our management of M365.
Common responsibilities for both roles will include:
- Ensuring cost-effective development and management within your projects and objects carried out in collaboration with colleagues and suppliers. You ensure that the solutions are accessible, user-friendly, secure, and comply with applicable laws, regulations, and guidelines.
- Supporting the organization with the IT perspective in various issues and initiatives.
- Contributing IT-related requirements during procurement of IT solutions.
- Planning, prioritizing, and executing activities within the framework of your project or object.
- Coordinating goals, assignments, and activities with other projects and objects.
- Calculating, monitoring, and reporting costs for your projects and objects to portfolio and object management.
- Producing documentation such as project plans, feasibility study reports, management plans, and decision support for changes and initiatives, and presenting these to clients and steering groups.
- Being responsible for coordination and contract follow-up with external IT suppliers.
We work in an agile and DevOps context. The position is located in Uppsala. Travel is included in the position.
Who are you?
To fit into the role, you need to be a structured leader with the ability to drive through decisions made to effectively lead projects and management. You have a strategic holistic perspective where you combine a technical orientation with process and business development. You understand the interplay and flow between employees, IT solutions, and regulations and how they together create value. You are attentive, creative, and analytical in your problem-solving.
To succeed in the role of project manager, you need to have:
- a university degree in, for example, computer science, or other education, background, or competence that the employer deems equivalent
- several years of experience in project management, financial follow-up, and automation/digitalization
- documented experience in delivering system support in roles such as project manager, product manager, management leader, object leader, system administrator, or equivalent competence.
Since all our documentation is in Swedish, you need to speak and write Swedish fluently.
It is an advantage if you have:
- experience working at a university or other government service
- experience with Power BI, ERP/Unit4, Antura
- experience in project and management leadership within data stewardship, environmental analysis, and citizen science
- experience in governance and requirement specification of external/internal IT suppliers
- experience in public procurement and purchasing of IT solutions
- a SAFe certification
- worked with pm3 or similar management models
For the role directed towards M365, it is also advantageous if you have:
- experience in technical management within Microsoft 365, e.g., content structuring, access control, metadata management, and integration with other M365 services.
- certifications in the M365 area
- knowledge and experience regarding security for cloud services, such as M365.
