Supervisor for Summer Jobs at Gamla Linköping
The position is placed within the Culture and Leisure Administration, which is one of eight administrations in Linköping Municipality. We offer all residents and those working in Linköping a wide and varied range of cultural and leisure activities. Do you want to enrich everyday life and improve the quality of life for the people of Linköping? With us, you can make a significant difference and help make Linköping a better place. Welcome to us!
Your Responsibilities
Gamla Linköping annually welcomes about 40 young people for summer jobs. The youth are of high school age and often this is their first employment. The tasks they perform are varied: gardening, animal care, janitorial work, cleaning, and patrolling the activity point Spelbanken in Lill-Valla playground. Some of the youth have summer jobs playing publicly in an orchestra in collaboration with Linköping's Culture School.
The youth are divided into four different teams in addition to the orchestras, led by supervisors. The supervisors share a common responsibility for organizing work leadership and structure. The daily work consists of coaching the youth, leading and organizing work, and demonstrating the various tasks. The supervisors participate in the training of the summer workers and maintain contact with the Summer Team at the Integration and Labor Market Administration. Regular staff in operations, animal care, and gardening are available for support and guidance. We are now looking for three supervisors for our teams of summer youth.
Your Workplace
Gamla Linköping is one of Östergötland's largest tourist attractions and one of Sweden's most visited museums. The museum is part of the Museums and Cultural Heritage unit and is organizationally located within the Culture and Leisure Administration, Linköping Municipality.
Gamla Linköping depicts the small town of Linköping during the period from around 1700 to around 1950. The museum consists of three parts: the city blocks, the rural Valla farm, and the nature reserve Vallaskogen, with traditional farmland being cultivated as it was in the past. Here, town and countryside meet within walking distance from Linköping's center.
We are now seeking new employees for the open-air museum's peak season, the Summer of Times 2026. During the Summer of Times, the working method is characterized by living history, under the motto “Where history comes alive,” with a rich variety of activities for children and adults.
Who You Are
You should be a reliable person with experience in leading and coaching youth from diverse cultural backgrounds. You are educated in leadership and/or pedagogy as well as gardening and/or animal care. Your previous experiences may include being a leisure leader, sports coach, in educational work, or other leadership roles. You have the ability to motivate youth and get everyone to do their best.
Your leadership is empathetic and understanding, yet clear regarding boundaries and rules. You have pedagogical insight and understanding of the different conditions of youth.
