Everyone we meet at Stadsmissionen has a story. Stories about finding a place to sleep, being hungry, being involuntarily alone, or being subjected to violence and threats. We meet the people behind the stories every day, all year round. And we work every day, all year round, on their opportunity for transition to a better life. At Stadsmissionen, you have the chance to make a real difference in people's lives, become part of something bigger, and help create a more humane society.
Our offer to you
Do you want to make a real difference in people's lives while gaining valuable work experience in social care?
Since 1993, our treatment home, Östergötlands Stadsmissions HVB for women in central Linköping, has been an exclusive sanctuary for women from all over the country with addiction issues and experiences of violence.
With human warmth and professional treatment, we help women process their experiences of violence, break their addiction, and increase their empowerment towards an independent life. Our treatment consists of evidence-based methods according to the guidelines of the National Board of Health and Welfare and is carried out by a team of social educators, managers, treatment leaders, and therapists.
We are now looking for a new employee as our colleague who is leaving will start studies. We are looking for someone who has a strong commitment to the target group and who wants to be part of our wonderful team. With us, you will have skilled colleagues who are passionate about the target group, meaningful and educational work, and valuable work experience in social care.
About the job
As a social educator, you will work in a team with colleagues from different professions, who together lead the treatment processes forward. You will work closely with the women during their treatment, motivating them to change their lives and supporting them in creating a safe and stable everyday life. With a focus on a milieu therapeutic approach, you will work relationally to support the women when difficult feelings and reactions arise. You will be the contact person for a number of enrolled clients and help create a living environment characterized by stability, safety, and care, as well as support the women in managing daily routines and planning for life after treatment. As a social educator, you will meet the women in individual supportive conversations and in groups. The assignment also includes documentation for record-keeping.
Is this you?
We are looking for someone who is communicative and inspiring in their way of being and who finds it easy to build good relationships. You have a good ability to understand clients' experiences and, from that, comprehend behaviors. You see opportunities in meeting each person and find ways forward. For you, it is natural to be flexible in your work based on the needs of the organization, colleagues, and women. You can work independently, have the ability to take initiative, and collaborate with colleagues and external actors. You have a critical perspective on norms and share our values and view of humanity.
We are looking for someone who has:
- Completed post-secondary education such as social educator, treatment educator, social worker, or other education deemed equivalent by the employer
- Driving license (B)
It is an advantage if you have any of the following competencies:
- Work experience in social work with people in vulnerable life situations
- Knowledge and/or experience of gender, violence theory, crisis and trauma treatment
- Basic knowledge of addiction issues
- Experience in addiction care, violence exposure, and comorbidity
- Further education in CRA, ASI, MI, ÅP, TMO
