Social Welfare Officer – Do you want to make a difference for people in Bengtsfors and Mellerud?
We are looking for someone who wants to be part of our dedicated team at the social welfare unit in Bäckefors, Bengtsfors municipality. Here, we work closely with individuals and put their needs at the center – always focusing on safety and quality.
About us
The social welfare unit is part of individual and family care and is responsible for administrative duties according to the Social Services Act within care and support for the residents of Bengtsfors and Mellerud municipalities. Since 2023, we operate from our office at Dalsland Hospital in Bäckefors. We are in an exciting phase of development with new working methods and team structures as well as senior reception. You will be part of Team Samsa/short-term, where we work with patients ready for discharge, short-term assessments, and receiving reports. We have a lead officer who directs and distributes work through individual check-ins, joint case supervision, and methodological support.
Your role
As a social welfare officer, you will investigate, decide, and follow up on interventions according to the IBIC methodology. You will meet people in various life situations, collaborate with relatives and other professionals, and contribute to a safe transition of care. The work requires structure, legal security, and good communication – both verbally and in writing.
Your responsibilities as a social welfare officer include:
- Receiving applications according to SoL, investigating, and based on the results of your investigation, making a decision on appropriate interventions or a decision to decline.
- Following up on decisions and approved interventions in collaboration with providers.
- Conducting planning for discharge from the hospital for a safe and secure transition of care.
- Identifying the need for coordination and calling or participating in SIP meetings for collaboration with health care and other units within the municipality.
- Providing relevant information and guidance within the framework of our service obligation.
We are looking for someone who
- Has a degree in social work or equivalent education
- Is solution-oriented, stress-resistant, and enjoys both independent work and teamwork
- Has a B driver's license and good computer skills
Experience in social welfare case management, IBIC, SIP meetings, Lifecare VoO, and Samsa is an advantage.
