University Lecturer in Computer Communication with a Focus on Distributed Systems

The position is placed in the research group Emerging Communication Systems (ECoS), which investigates research questions at the intersection of wireless communication, machine learning, energy-efficient design, and security. We are interested in the synergies between these areas for the development of future distributed communication systems that are energy-efficient, robust, and secure. As a university lecturer, you will be part of a leading and growing research environment. We publish in top international journals and conferences and collaborate with researchers worldwide with both Swedish and European funding.
Description of the Subject Area:
The subject area of computer communication refers to protocols, software, and hardware for data transmission. Within the field, distributed systems are defined by the methods and protocols needed for communication systems to cooperate towards a common task. Key research questions include performance, resource efficiency, security, and reliability, as well as synchronization of cooperating computers and protocols for consistent data management. Typical systems range from interconnected servers offering cloud services over extensive computer networks to limited wireless IoT systems with cooperating sensors.
Job Responsibilities:
Teaching, research, and administration. Teaching includes course responsibility and course administration, as well as supervision of students and doctoral candidates, primarily in computer communication and distributed systems. Keeping up with developments in the subject area and societal developments that are relevant to the work at the university. The position may involve supervising doctoral candidates, defining and planning research activities in collaboration with others, actively working to apply for and obtain external research funding, administrative duties within the department, and establishing your own research group in the field.
Eligibility Requirements:
PhD in computer engineering or another relevant field. Scientific and pedagogical competence or other professional skills. It is required that the pedagogical skills, scientific competence, and professional skills are relevant to the subject area of the position and the job responsibilities included in the position. The applicant must have completed university pedagogical training relevant to university operations, comprising ten weeks, or have acquired equivalent knowledge. If there are special reasons, the pedagogical training can be completed during the first two years of employment. Documented ability to teach in Swedish or English unless there are special reasons. Personal qualities required to fulfill the position well.
