Strömstad Municipality is a small and close-knit organization where everyone is important and works together to deliver the best possible service.

The fire service in Strömstad Municipality has two fire stations, one in Strömstad and one in Skee. We aim to be one of the best fire services in Västra Götaland together with our partner municipalities Halden, Tanum, and Sotenäs.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

In Strömstad Municipality, firefighters, also known as on-call rescue personnel, are employed part-time in our fire service. This means that as a firefighter, you have a regular employer and, alongside that, are on call as a firefighter.

With us, you are on call as a firefighter every fourth week, which means that if an alarm goes off during your on-call period, you leave your workplace, training session, or Friday night relaxation to respond as a firefighter. The work as a firefighter is varied and can involve everything from fires and traffic accidents to providing medical care while waiting for an ambulance. We are now looking for more firefighters for the stations in Skee and Strömstad!

The position as a firefighter offers you opportunities for personal development and plays an important role in our community. We provide you with the necessary training to work as a firefighter, and we actively work with further education and regular drills - all to be the best when it matters.

QUALIFICATIONS

• You have good physical fitness, full visual and auditory capacity, and are swim competent.
• Driving license at least B-class, C-class license is an advantage.
• The prerequisite is that you have a permanent employment with your regular employer.
• You should be able to be on call for seven days (Mon-Mon) during a four-week period.

The time from when an alarm is received by the fire service until the first rescue vehicle leaves the station should be a maximum of 5 minutes for the station in Strömstad and 8 minutes for the station in Skee. This means that your residence and workplace must be near one of the fire stations so that you can meet the response time.

Remember to talk to your regular employer. Upon hiring, we require a written approval that you can work as on-call rescue personnel since it means you leave your job immediately upon an alarm and must be available for training and drills as needed.

On February 17, we will invite those interested to our "test day" where various tests including treadmill, height, and claustrophobia tests will be conducted. For the test day, you need to bring proof of swim competence and a certificate from your employer.
