The addiction care in Region Örebro County and the specialist psychiatric department 4 is part of this strategic work and is currently in a development phase where new methods are being shaped to meet patients with mental illness and addiction issues. The reform proposed in the co-occurring disorders investigation is a significant transformation in Sweden and will involve an exciting journey where we do not know exactly what the goal looks like. We know that care for individuals with addiction disorders will improve and become more cohesive, especially for the most vulnerable. This means that those of us who are part of this journey will have the opportunity to help shape the future addiction care in our region. The specialist psychiatric department 4 has a county assignment to meet the needs of residents for round-the-clock care for addiction disorders and co-occurring disorders, and together with specialist psychiatric department 1, also provide care for patients with psychotic disorders. Department 4 offers inpatient assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation for patients with addiction issues and/or psychotic disorders. Our patients often have both psychiatric and somatic comorbidities. Care is provided according to HSL and the coercive care legislation LPT, LRV, LVU, and LVM. Patients come to the department via the psychiatric emergency room, from our own outpatient care, through planned admissions in collaboration with social services, or as self-referred via the sobering-up department (TNE), which is operated in collaboration with the county's municipalities. Admissions occur around the clock, and the average length of stay is three to five days. The work is carried out in multiprofessional teams consisting of nurses, doctors, caregivers, MVA, social workers, and discharge coordinators. Teamwork and collaboration with our own outpatient care and, for example, social services, are fundamental to the operation and an important part of the region's development of care for individuals with co-occurring disorders.

As a nurse in department 4, you play a central role in the psychiatric and somatic care of inpatient patients and in implementing Region Örebro County's strategic direction. There is a wide variation in patients' care needs, planning, and lengths of stay, which means that the tasks for you as a nurse are also varied. The job responsibilities include, among others:

• Assessment, planning, implementation, and follow-up of psychiatric and somatic care
• Medication management and sampling
• Ward rounds in close collaboration with doctors
• Supportive and motivational conversations
• Collaboration with other healthcare providers, social services, police, and relatives
• Active participation in development and improvement work related to new methods within co-occurring disorders
