Editorial Leader at the Swedish National Board of Institutional Care (SiS)

The Swedish National Board of Institutional Care (SiS) is an authority responsible for individually tailored compulsory care for young people with complex psychosocial problems and for adults with substance abuse. SiS also implements closed youth care. We do this in youth homes and homes for adults with substance abuse across the country. At SiS, your work life will be an exciting challenge. No matter where you work in our organization or what position you hold, you help create life-changing transformations.

At our headquarters in Solna Business Park, we have about 350 employees, and together we work to support and develop the authority with approximately 4000 employees.

About the Position

Are you an editorial leader with a good understanding of the logic and tone of different channels? Do you have experience in leading and developing planning processes, making well-founded priorities, and steering work so that the right content is published in the right channels at the right time, both internally and externally? We are now looking for someone who wants to help develop the editorial communication planning in an authority with one of Sweden's most important societal missions.

The Swedish National Board of Institutional Care (SiS) is in an intense and exciting development phase with great interest in our operations and ongoing political investigations that open up opportunities to strengthen and modernize the authority's mission. We are now looking for someone who wants to contribute to strengthening our overall communication through effective, quality-assured, and target group-adapted editorial work in our channels. You will be part of an engaged and competent team, close to management and operations, where you will have the opportunity to develop and make a difference every day.

Job Description

As the coordinating hub for the editorial work of the communications department, you will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and developing the authority's editorial work in close collaboration with communicators, web editors, press secretaries, and communication strategists.

You will work closely with the section manager in overall planning, prioritization, and development of the editorial operations. The assignment does not include personnel responsibility but entails clear leadership and coordination responsibility in both the short- and long-term editorial flow. The work encompasses both SiS's internal and external communication channels, and the role places high demands on the ability to assess news value, both for authority-specific activities and events in the external environment.

In the role, you will among other things:

  • Lead and coordinate the editorial flow by driving planning, prioritizing based on the organization's goals, and coordinating content in internal and external channels with a clear red thread.
  • Ensure that content is adapted to the target audience, channel, and purpose, maintains good quality, and is delivered according to plan for the best possible communicative effect.
  • Be responsible for the department's publication calendar, editorial meetings, and prioritization of assignments, ensuring that planning is structured and well anchored.
  • Ensure quality in texts and content, including language, tone, fact-checking, and journalistic judgment.
  • Contribute to the follow-up of results and to continuous improvements of working methods and content.
  • Explore and apply AI support and digital tools to streamline editorial processes, analysis, and publication.

The position is located in the section for editorial content and external relations, one of two sections in the communications department, and you will report to the section manager. You will work together with communicators, communication strategists, and press secretaries but are expected to take significant independent responsibility.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who has:

  • Post-secondary education in communication, journalism, or other education that SiS deems relevant for the position.
  • Several years of experience in a leadership or coordinating role within communication or editorial work with responsibility for planning, prioritization, and ensuring interaction between internal and external channels.
  • Very good knowledge of Swedish and plain language, with the ability to package complex issues in an understandable way.
  • High journalistic awareness and ethical judgment.

It is also meritorious if you have:

  • Experience in developing editorial working methods and routines, including the use of AI and digital tools.
  • Experience in follow-up and analysis of content (e.g., KPIs, insights, channel data) and translating insights into improvements.
  • Experience working in an authority or other politically governed activity.
  • Experience in press work.

To succeed in the role, you have strong editorial judgment and a high ability to create structure, collaboration, direction, and pace in a team. You are unpretentious, collaborative, and proactive in your communication. You enjoy switching between strategic planning, operational production, and daily coordination. You are solution-oriented and maintain calm when circumstances change rapidly. You see the big picture, capture what is important, and make things happen quickly without compromising quality in execution.

We will place great emphasis on your personal qualities and abilities.

At SiS, we care about good employee relations. This means that you as an employee take responsibility for your work, contribute to development, and participate in good collaboration. Read more about our employee relations.

Employment

The position is a permanent full-time employment, with a six-month probationary period. Start date according to agreement. The workplace is our headquarters in Solna Business Park. Communicator readiness outside office hours may be included in the position.
