Do you want to work in a school environment where relationships, safety, and individual adaptation are in focus? We are now looking for a dedicated and secure Swedish and English teacher for our Resource School (https://karlstad.se/forskola-skola-och-utbildning/grundskola/resursskola).

With us, you will have the opportunity to teach in small groups, where each student's development is at the center. You will have close collaboration with your colleagues in your work team, the school's special educators, and the school's cross-professional student health team, with the opportunity to make a real difference in the students' lives.

Resource schools are units with small student groups, high staff density, and adapted learning environments. Resource schools target students in grades 4–9 who have extensive needs for special support that cannot be met in the regular school.

Karlstad's resource school consists of four school units. The position is located at Resource School Örsholmen.

Responsibilities

As a teacher in grades 7-9, your main task is to develop students' knowledge and skills based on the curriculum and each student's individual needs and conditions. You plan the teaching by setting goals, choosing methods and materials, and preparing lessons. Together with the students, you evaluate the teaching to always strive to improve the teaching, students' learning, and your professional learning. Being a mentor is also part of the job.

As a teacher with us, you will teach Swedish and English with a clear focus on creating understanding, motivation, and structure for each student.

With us, you will become part of a knowledgeable work team, where collaboration, structure, and relationship-building are at the center. Together with your colleagues, you will be responsible for shaping the educational activities so that each individual student's unique conditions and abilities are utilized and challenged. Together, you create the best conditions for students' knowledge development by planning, implementing, documenting, and evaluating the teaching. With a shared focus, you work purposefully to ensure that students achieve the goals of the curriculum and course syllabuses.

Qualifications

We are looking for a certified teacher for grades 7-9 with qualifications in Swedish and English. As a person, you are secure and stable, with the ability to make well-founded decisions even in pressured situations. You are attentive and have a respectful and professional approach in your contact with both students, guardians, and colleagues, which makes you relationship-building and contributes to good collaboration. Your work is characterized by a strong commitment to each student's unique conditions, and you are a skilled educator with a good ability to read situations and adapt your teaching to the student's individual needs. You are persistent and show patience in working with students with special needs, where you constantly seek solutions and maintain focus even when challenges arise. You see changes as an opportunity and meet them with a positive and creative attitude, which allows you to find new ways to create the best possible learning environment.

Experience working with students in need of special support in primary school, NPF-adapted pedagogy, and/or special educational interventions is an advantage.
