Vocational Teacher in Train Technology

The train technology education at Brogymnasiet is unique in its kind and makes Kristinehamn one of the few places in Sweden that trains train mechanics at the high school level. The education, which started in the autumn of 2025, has national intake and offers places for 8 students per grade.

Brogymnasiet has about 70 employees and offers a wide range of programs such as EE, EK, FT, FS, IN, NA, SA, TA, TE, VO, IM, and Adapted upper secondary school. RESPONSIBILITIES

Your main task will be to plan and conduct teaching in train technology. The education is linked to an educational plan and takes place in close collaboration with a train workshop in the municipality.

The teaching takes place in both practical and theoretical lessons about the structure, components, and function of rail vehicles. In addition to designing your own teaching, moments and inputs from partners can be planned in.

Your role includes following and assessing students' development, grading, and creating a safe and clear learning environment that prepares them for working life. You have close contact with the train industry by coordinating and following up on students' workplace-based learning (APL) and collaborating with supervisors and companies. The work also involves keeping yourself updated on industry requirements and collaborating with colleagues to provide the best possible conditions for students to achieve set goals. You are also expected to collaborate with other colleagues to develop the education and ensure high quality.

Mentorship is included in the position and is an important part of working with students.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone who:

• is already a trained and licensed vocational teacher in train technology, or
• has extensive experience in train mechanics or related experience in vehicle mechanics or electrical power systems.
• has system understanding relevant to the maintenance and repair of rail vehicles, including measurement and troubleshooting methods.
• has a good ability to read and use technical documentation and drawings in both English and Swedish.
• has good knowledge of safety work and can assess risks in work and teaching related to rail-bound vehicles.
• Good computer skills for documentation and preparation of teaching materials.

Desirable competencies:

• Knowledge of digital systems in rail-bound vehicles.
• Experience with traffic safety systems such as ATC and/or ERTMS.
• Work with PLC programming or control engineering applications.
• Experience in education or mentoring within technical vocational areas.
• Driving license B

Personal competencies:

We are looking for someone who combines deep specialist knowledge in train technology with a genuine commitment to learning. You possess good pedagogical insight that allows you to explain complex technical systems in an understandable way and adapt your teaching to the needs of the student group. As a person, you are self-driven and take great personal responsibility for driving your processes forward, while your strong initiative enables you to see opportunities for improvement and act on them. The work requires you to be structured in your planning and documentation, but as the everyday life in an educational environment can change quickly, we also see that you are flexible and can easily adapt. Through clear and secure leadership, you create a study environment that inspires your students, and your good collaboration skills make you a valued colleague who actively contributes to the development of the entire teaching team.

OTHER

A teaching license is required for permanent employment, but during an interview, we can discuss how we can offer permanent employment in the long term through education.

The position is a holiday service.
