Description

The position of university lecturer in economics is located at the School of Business at Karlstad University.

The School of Business at Karlstad University (Karlstad Business School) started in 2009 and consists of working science, business administration, informatics, law, economics, and statistics and is AACSB accredited. The mission of the School of Business is “We educate responsible professionals and conduct research with high societal impact” and permeates our entire operation. Within the framework of the business administration program, there are specializations in economics and financial economics. Research in economics at Karlstad University is primarily in applied microeconomics, but we now want to strengthen the competence in macroeconomics and financial economics. We are now looking for an engaged employee who actively wants to contribute to the continued development of the School of Business.

Responsibilities

The responsibilities include teaching in financial economics and macroeconomics. We are looking for a good pedagogue who is involved in driving the development of both education and research. The applicant is expected to take an active part in applications for external research funding.

You collaborate with the surrounding community for mutual exchange and work to ensure that the knowledge and competence available at the university benefits society. To contribute to a good working environment and the development of operations, you are present and participate in the daily work and community.

Eligibility

Eligible for employment as a university lecturer in economics is someone who has demonstrated pedagogical skill. In addition, a doctoral degree or equivalent scientific competence in economics is required, alternatively some other professional skill that is significant in relation to the subject matter of the employment and the tasks that will be included in the employment.

The work requires good knowledge of Swedish and English.

According to Karlstad University's employment regulations, teachers must have the personal qualities required to fulfill the employment as well as a well-completed higher education pedagogical education. If the education is lacking, an employment can still occur, provided that the employee commits to completing it, within the framework of the competence development period, during the first two years of employment or applies to validate equivalent knowledge. Assessment Criteria

In the assessment of scientific and pedagogical skill, equal weight will be given to pedagogical skill and scientific skill.

Of Particular Importance

• Articles published in scientific journals over the past five years, particularly in macroeconomics and/or financial economics.
• Demonstrated ability to obtain funding for research financing over the past five years.
• Teaching competence in financial economics and macroeconomics.

Of Great Importance

• That the applicant has good collaborative skills to contribute to the continued development of operations on our campus.
• Personal qualities such as responsibility and commitment to your work as well as the ability to create good relationships with students, colleagues, and external stakeholders.
• Good ability to work in a structured manner.

Of Importance

• Current experience of collaboration with the surrounding community and good ability to communicate research and development work.
• Experience from international employment, assignments, or national and international networks.
• Personal qualities such as good judgment, commitment to the organization, and a positive attitude towards colleagues and students.

Meritorious

• Pedagogical appointments.
• An interest in and ability to integrate sustainable development, gender equality, equal opportunities, and internationalization in education is meritorious.
• As the subject offers courses in English for, among others, exchange students, documented experience of teaching in English is also meritorious.

Conditions

Permanent employment on a full-time basis with immediate start according to agreement. A probationary period may be applied.
