The Child and Adolescent Psychiatry is a multidisciplinary specialist service that includes a family therapy, cognitive, psychodynamic, and neuropsychological understanding perspective.

Our task is to detect, investigate, and treat mental health issues in children and adolescents under 18 years old and their families.

About the Job

Our inpatient care unit is for children and adolescents with severe psychiatric problems who require hospitalization. The length of stay varies depending on the assignment, as we function both as an acute unit and a treatment unit.

We are looking for someone who wants to work with us this summer, with the possibility of a permanent position.

As a nurse in the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry's inpatient care, you will be part of a team of 19 colleagues consisting of caregivers, nurses, coordinators, ward doctors, and the ward manager. The team includes both new and experienced staff. We have a close collaboration with the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry's outpatient and intermediate care and the competencies available there.

As a nurse, you will work as a team leader on certain days. You will participate in rounds, plan and evaluate patients' care needs and medical treatment. Recently, we introduced an acute process that allows us to receive calls around the clock from patients and relatives in need of advice and support. We also accept patients who need urgent assessment. We place great importance on ensuring that the entire family's need for support is highlighted, so it is important that you can adapt your approach based on the situation and the person.

We are looking for someone with personal maturity who finds it challenging to work with the unpredictable to some extent.

We offer a newly developed internal introduction training, mentorship, guidance, and regular development time. You will work two weekends out of five on a rotating day and evening schedule. The position is a summer temporary position with the possibility of extension.

About You

We are looking for a licensed nurse. If you are a psychiatric nurse and/or have experience working with children and young people with eating disorders, suicidal tendencies, or psychosis in inpatient care, we consider this an advantage.

We want you to be flexible, have good collaboration skills, and be able to remain calm in stressful situations. You have a strong patient focus and see the opportunity to work together with patients and their families to achieve success in treatment.

For us, it is important that you have a genuine interest in working with children and adolescents with psychiatric issues and that you want to contribute to change for our patients.

Region Blekinge places all permanent staff in a crisis placement. Some of our positions are security classified, where the employee must undergo a security clearance interview and background check according to the Security Protection Act (2018:585).
