Your Role

We are looking for you who want to become our next production engineer in cable manufacturing. In this role, you will work closely with engaged colleagues and serve as the link between design and operators. Your main responsibilities as a production engineer will be to establish, develop, and improve production documentation for cable manufacturing for the Jas 39 Gripen C/D and E/F. As a production engineer for cable manufacturing, you will be responsible for:

  • Ensuring operators receive production documentation with the correct assembly sequence, assembly method, and clear instructions
  • Managing changes from design and production
  • Developing production methods
  • Streamlining work processes

In this role, you will work to ensure that design documentation can be built at the right cost, quality, and lead time, and that changes from design and production are managed in the production documentation. The work takes place at the interface between production technology, sub-assembly, final assembly, design, and production, giving you many contacts and collaboration opportunities. We work with model-based production documentation in Delmia and VPM, and we engage in both larger and smaller projects.

You will be part of the section for Industrialisation, Manufacturing Electrical and Harness assembly, whose main task is to be responsible for production and tooling documentation for cabling and electrical test equipment. The roles represented within the section include production engineering, tool design, and production-related production technology, and the section currently consists of around 20 employees and consultants, all of varying ages and experiences. Of these 20 employees, 8 work as production engineers and will be your closest colleagues. The production engineers are a high-performing group with great commitment who always look out for each other. Your Profile

We are looking for someone with previous experience in production engineering and model-based production documentation, or someone with very good electrical competence and technical interest. You may have a post-secondary education as an engineer, designer, or vocational school, or have worked as an operator in cable manufacturing with good computer skills. You also master Swedish and English in both spoken and written forms.

Additionally, it is advantageous if you have any of the following:

  • Experience working in Delmia or other CAD programs
  • Experience in larger business systems, preferably IFS ERP
  • Understanding of wiring diagrams
  • Experience in cable manufacturing, either as a designer or operator
  • Experience reading 2D drawings

The section is part of the Fighter Production department within Saab Aeronautics. The area includes several functions and roles such as production engineering and tool design for a wide range of production capabilities within detail manufacturing, assembly, final assembly all the way to aircraft delivery. The area also includes its own planning, project management, transfer, and Opex functions that work broadly on improvement work, future methods, technology plans, etc. The operation currently employs about 250 people and leads and develops the industrialization of Gripen and future aircraft systems.
