Workplace Description
Are you ready for a bigger task? The Swedish Police Authority is Sweden's largest authority with approximately 40,000 employees across the country. With us, you have the opportunity to contribute to the Police's mission – to increase safety and reduce crime in society.
The Regional Command Center (RLC) is an important part of the crime-fighting work and is responsible for the police's intervention activities throughout the region. RLC is a section within the operational unit, and the workplace consists of RLC operators, RLC commanders, duty officers, and regional incident leaders. At RLC, incoming phone calls, including those from 112, and radio calls are handled, assessed, and prioritized. The operations at RLC are characterized by a clear citizen perspective, where RLC must maintain a very high availability in cases that require immediate or urgent police interventions. RLC operates 24/7, which means that working hours are scheduled for days, nights, and evenings, as well as weekdays, weekends, and holidays.
RLC South is now seeking operators to be stationed at Toftanäs in Malmö.
Job Description
As an operator, you will answer 112 calls from the public, handle radio calls from police officers in the field, assess and register information, and prioritize and dispatch police resources to various assignments. To solve the task, you will follow a nationally established prioritization order and work under the guidance and support of supervisors. You will also have access to several IT systems that help you search for information and create an overview. Periods of high workload and stress may occur; regardless, you are expected to meet both citizens and the police you lead in a professional manner. To thrive in this role, you need to be secure, stable, and have good self-awareness, as the tasks and working conditions can be psychologically demanding.
The operator role includes collaboration with other authorities, organizations, and partners such as SOS Alarm, the Swedish Transport Administration, public transport, the Rescue Service, and ambulance services in the region. The work as an operator begins with comprehensive training that provides you with the right tools and conditions to take on the assignment.
Qualifications
This is an opportunity for you who have:
· A high school diploma or equivalent knowledge acquired through experience
· At least 1 year of work experience
· Very good ability to communicate in spoken and written Swedish
· Good understanding and ability to communicate orally in English
· Good computer skills and the ability to learn new IT systems
· Swedish citizenship
It is advantageous if you also have:
· Experience working with people in vulnerable situations (for example, through work experience or engagement in voluntary or association activities)
· Work experience in high multitasking environments such as emergency centers, ambulances, healthcare, the armed forces, communication centers, customer service/support, or similar work that the employer assesses as equivalent
· Documented experience where the work has primarily taken place via phone and computer
· Language skills beyond Swedish and English that you can apply fluently in professional contexts deemed relevant for the position
· A B driver's license
Personal Attributes
As an RLC operator, you will daily meet citizens who are in difficult situations. Therefore, it is a prerequisite for the position that you are communicative and have the ability to adapt your language based on whom you are meeting. Furthermore, this requires a good ability to gather and evaluate information effectively to drive cases forward in a minute operational environment. To succeed in the role, you need to be able to maintain calm even in pressured situations. The role of an RLC operator requires you to collaborate well with others and interact with them in a responsive and constructive manner. It is important that you strive for a good collaborative climate and contribute to the group.
We will place great emphasis on personal attributes.
