The Community Planning Department is embarking on an exciting transformation journey that will strengthen our ability to contribute to Trelleborg's growth and development. Starting from January 1, 2026, we plan to implement a new organization - a modern and sustainable structure that prepares us to meet future challenges and opportunities.

The new organization will consist of three departments: the fire service, the building and environmental department, and the planning and geodata department. Each department will have two units and be complemented by a common administrative unit, which gives us the strength to work effectively and coordinated.

Now we are looking for summer interns for the Fire Service!

Workplace

The Fire Service in Trelleborg Municipality consists of a full-time organization and three part-time areas. The full-time organization is staffed around the clock with a team leader and four firefighters at the station, as well as a duty officer on standby. The fire service operates together with the municipalities of Vellinge and Skurup according to agreement. This includes a joint administration and management organization managed from Trelleborg. In 2020, the Trelleborg fire service moved into a newly built fire station, which gives you the opportunity to work in a unique workplace with a strong focus on healthy firefighters.

We are a total of about 150 employees distributed across the full-time station and eight RIB stations, as well as administration. We are now looking for two hourly interns to strengthen the operational capacity of the fire service during the summer of 2026. The position includes the summer months of June, July, and August, with a planned introduction before you start your operational service.

Job Responsibilities

Working as a firefighter involves a varied and event-driven job where you both encounter emergency situations and work preventively to create security in the community. As a firefighter in the Trelleborg fire service, you will be part of an emergency response team tasked with handling incidents that require rescue efforts. We also assist ambulance services with IVPA alarms. Your workday will also include training, physical exercise, equipment and vehicle maintenance, as well as safety and educational work. These parts of the job are crucial for maintaining a high and consistent operational capability. The work is done on a shift basis during the summer months, which means you need to be able to switch between rest, training, station duties, and emergency responses.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who has a degree or is studying the 3rd or 4th semester of the Accident Prevention program (SMO training):

• alternatively, 15 weeks of firefighter training at MSB's school or other training that the employer assesses as equivalent.
• alternatively, part-time training (GRIB/Rescue Operations) with at least 5 years of experience as a full-time firefighter.

We welcome applicants from SMO classes who are currently studying the third and fourth semesters. You must be fully healthy and present a valid treadmill certificate according to AFS 2019:3. The certificate must be no more than 6 months old. New employment requirement 5.6 km/h.

We are looking for someone with a B driver's license, and if you also have a C driver's license, that is an extra plus. It is also advantageous if you have experience from the fire service, training or experience in healthcare, as well as a diving certificate A-40 for rescue diving.

Since interventions occur under pressure and always in teams, your personal abilities are very important. We are looking for someone who is stable and secure, and who can handle stressful and rapidly changing situations without losing focus. You need to be empathetic and have good communication skills, as you will both meet people in crisis and work closely with your colleagues. The job also requires that you enjoy working with others, as teamwork is a central part of the profession and crucial for ensuring that interventions are carried out safely and effectively. Additionally, it is important that you are flexible and can adapt when conditions change, as the workday alternates between routine tasks and urgent events that require quick decisions. These competencies are necessary to create security, maintain good communication, and contribute to a safe and well-functioning team.
