Cultural and Leisure Administration

The Cultural and Leisure Administration operates based on everyone's right to meaningful free time. In all our activities, we create opportunities for people to meet, co-create, experience, and participate in a varied range of cultural, sports, and leisure activities for all. Culture and leisure are important pieces in a growing Trelleborg, and our work contributes to attractiveness, safety, quality of life, and public health.

The Workplace

The Safety Unit belongs to the Cultural and Leisure Administration and has the entire municipality as its area of work. We create opportunities for safe meetings with culture, events, and sports as common denominators. Our goal is to proudly and joyfully create an active and safe everyday life for our residents.

Job Responsibilities

The main task of the Safety Guardian is to be visible and create presence in strategically selected places in the municipality to reduce crime and increase safety. This may involve residential areas that have been affected by break-ins, parking areas where vandalism has occurred, or public places that are perceived as unsafe. The Safety Guardian should observe what happens in the area, document events, and work proactively and relationship-building in contact with the municipality's residents, with a particular focus on children and young people.

The work is varied and social. You will be part of a workgroup with other Safety Guardians, and you will collaborate closely in daily work. The position is scheduled Monday–Sunday, mainly during evenings and nights. Movement primarily occurs by car marked “Safety Guardian” and the municipality's logo.

Qualifications

For the position, you are required to have a high school education with passing grades and experience working with people, preferably with children and young people. Experience from safety-promoting work, leisure activities, schools, social work, or similar contexts is advantageous. We also welcome applicants with post-secondary education or ongoing studies in social pedagogy, social work, behavioral science, or other relevant fields, as this competence can strengthen the proactive and relationship-building work in the role.

We expect you to have a positive view of people and an empathetic ability that makes it easy for you to communicate and meet residents regardless of age and background. As a person, you need to be clear, stable, and able to set boundaries. You have experience and knowledge in handling conflicts in a constructive and respectful manner, and you feel secure in socially complex situations.

The work involves daily contact with residents and businesses, which requires you to express yourself well in Swedish and English and have good computer skills. Since you often move between different places in the municipality, you also need to have held a B driver's license for at least five years and be a safe and experienced driver.

As an applicant for the position, you must be able to submit a valid extract from the criminal record.
