Work at the detention center is often routine-based and focused on care and security tasks. Our clients may be detained for long periods without meeting anyone other than their lawyer and the staff at the detention center. This places special demands on you as a correctional officer.

This job is for those seeking a varied security role. Duties include, among other things, monitoring, meal distribution, and searches, combined with isolation-breaking measures such as daily contact/conversations and motivational work with our clients. Since some documentation is required, it is important that you can express yourself well in writing.

Depending on the number of training places and our staffing needs, you will begin your employment with an introduction and a period of work before starting our basic training. The training is mandatory and includes both theory and practice, alternating with work at the detention center. The introduction for those offered employment in this advertisement starts on 2/3-2026 or 4/5-2026.

The training unit of the Swedish Prison and Probation Service is located in Malmö. You will be in Malmö during certain training weeks. During the probationary period, ongoing assessments will be made regarding your suitability for permanent employment. You will receive full pay throughout the training period.

The operations of the Swedish Prison and Probation Service run around the clock, year-round. You will work days, evenings, and weekends. Some schedules include night shifts.

QUALIFICATIONS

Requirements:

• Work experience from the Swedish Prison and Probation Service
• Completed upper secondary education or other education combined with work experience deemed relevant by the agency.
• Good knowledge of the Swedish language in both speech and writing
• Good computer skills

As a correctional officer, you need to be secure, stable, have good self-awareness, sound judgment, and integrity. Together with your colleagues, you will drive the operations, so you need to have good teamwork skills and be clear in your communication. You should be able to act physically when required.
