Your Mission

You will belong to the crypto office within the cyber operations department. The department aims to strengthen the protection against qualified IT attacks from abroad on critical societal operations in Sweden and contribute to intelligence reporting. You will work at an office whose mission is to support signal intelligence and information security operations with cryptological challenges.

You will be part of a unit that works with the production of crypto operations. Your role mainly consists of reverse engineering software focused on crypto implementations. There may also be development of tools for automated code analysis and setting up test environments.

You will enter a creative environment with a diversity of expertise in cryptology, mathematics, and IT security. The group values each other's ideas and actively helps each other to achieve results together. In addition to collaborating with your unit, you will work closely with other parts of the cyber operations department and other parts of the agency.

You Can

We are looking for someone who has:

  • An academic degree in cybersecurity, computer engineering, computer science, cryptology, mathematics, or physics, or a field that the employer deems equivalent. Alternatively, you may have acquired equivalent knowledge through work experience.
  • Knowledge of reverse engineering software
  • Strong programming skills
  • Good knowledge of Swedish and English, both spoken and written

As you will come into contact with the following areas, we see it as meritorious if you have expertise in one or more of them:

  • Compilers and computer architectures
  • Operating systems such as Linux, Windows, and/or mobile OS.
  • C/C++ or other low-level languages
  • Python
  • Communication protocols
  • Cryptology
  • Cybersecurity

You will have good opportunities to learn more about the above areas in the position.

The workplace is located near Drottningholm, about 10 minutes from Brommaplan. Swedish citizenship is a requirement as employment at FRA involves placement in a security class. Before employment, you will be security vetted in accordance with the provisions of the Security Protection Act. Employment includes an obligation to be placed in a war situation.
