Trainer at the Swedish Prison and Probation Service

The Swedish Prison and Probation Service is growing – we are building new facilities, renovating, and expanding, and we are now looking for more employees. Our most important goal is to reduce recidivism – to break the vicious cycle. If we succeed, society will be safer and more secure for everyone. We are the authority responsible for prisons, probation, detention centers, and client transport.

The Education Unit is responsible for the authority's educational provision based on both the goals and strategic choices of the Swedish Prison and Probation Service as well as changes in the external environment. This responsibility includes pedagogical responsibility for the learning and education of employees. The unit is tasked with developing work regarding pedagogy, production, distance education, and e-learning. The main task of the unit is to analyze, plan, further develop, implement, and follow up the authority's long-term educational activities and competence development for most occupational categories within the authority. The work is carried out in close collaboration with the operations, and the authority's joint staff training is conducted and quality assured by the unit.

The six educational centers of the Swedish Prison and Probation Service are located in Härnösand, Örebro, Stockholm, Norrköping, Gothenburg, and Malmö. The Norrköping Education Center is located at Slottsgatan 77-79, opposite the authority's national headquarters.

RESPONSIBILITIES

As a trainer, you will be responsible for conveying the mission, goals, vision, and values of the Swedish Prison and Probation Service. This role includes lecturing, planning, and leading exercises and seminars, as well as mentoring individual employees and study groups.

As a trainer, you are the employer's representative and will assess the employee in training based on goals and criteria. You will collaborate with both colleagues and internal and external partners. Follow-up, evaluation, and documentation are essential parts of the work. As a trainer, you actively contribute perspectives, experiences, and assessments in the follow-up and revision of training and individual components.

You will work in an organization undergoing expansion and take significant responsibility for seeking information, planning, and executing your work within given frameworks and according to applicable guidelines.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone who works well with others and adapts their way of conveying messages to the audience. You have the ability to speak clearly, articulately, and engagingly in individual meetings as well as in small and large groups. You plan, organize, and prioritize work effectively, and you are meticulous and well aware of goals and quality standards when it comes to delivery. Furthermore, you can quickly change your perspective and approach.

It is important for us that you share the fundamental values of the Swedish Prison and Probation Service regarding a humane view of humanity, respect for the individual, and belief in the human will and ability to develop. You are also aware of and understand how background, culture, and group affiliation affect yourself and others. Furthermore, you are expected to contribute to ensuring that everyone is treated equally through your approach. We place great emphasis on personal suitability.

We are looking for someone who has:

  • Higher education with a relevant focus for the Swedish Prison and Probation Service or other education combined with experience deemed relevant by the authority
  • Completed prison service training
  • Well-regarded experience from client-facing work within the Swedish Prison and Probation Service
  • Experience in conducting training, lectures, or presentations
  • Ability to express yourself well in spoken and written Swedish

It is an advantage if you have:

  • Post-secondary pedagogical education
  • Completed instructor training in conflict management
  • Completed training in HP/VSP
  • Experience mentoring colleagues
  • Experience leading group exercises
  • Experience in documentation, evaluation, and follow-up
  • Experience assessing course participants based on goals and criteria
  • Experience using IT as support in work
  • Knowledge in presentation techniques and digital teaching
