Your Responsibilities

More than half of all Swedes over 65 have high blood pressure, or hypertension, which increases the risk of heart failure, coronary artery disease, and stroke. The causes of hypertension and its effects on the cardiovascular system are complex, vary between individuals, and are therefore not yet fully understood. To understand such complex processes, digital twins can be utilized. A digital twin is a virtual representation of an object or system that reflects its behavior. We are now seeking a postdoctoral researcher who wants to explore patient-specific hemodynamic mechanisms behind high blood pressure and predict the effects of antihypertensive medication using the cardiovascular digital twin concept.

As a postdoctoral researcher, you will primarily conduct research. Teaching may also be included in your responsibilities, but it will not exceed one-fifth of your working time.

Your Qualifications

To be eligible for the position of postdoctoral researcher, you must have obtained a doctoral degree or have a foreign degree that is deemed equivalent to a doctoral degree. Your degree must have been awarded no later than at the time the employment decision is made.

We are looking for someone with a doctoral degree in medical technology or a related field. You should have documented expertise in individualized mathematical modeling of the cardiovascular system to investigate the mechanisms behind high blood pressure. Additionally, you should have experience with the use of magnetic resonance and organizing and conducting patient studies. You must have excellent proficiency in both Swedish and English, both spoken and written. You are highly self-motivated and have a genuine interest in research. Personal qualities and suitability are of great importance.

Your expertise should be supported by scientific publications, conference contributions, developed software, or similar.

It is advantageous if your degree was awarded no more than three years prior to the application deadline for this position. If there are special reasons, those who have obtained their doctoral degree earlier may also be considered, for example, due to various types of statutory leaves.

Your Workplace

You will work within the research cluster of Cardiovascular Imaging and Modeling at the Department of Diagnostics and Specialist Medicine.

About the Employment

The position is a fixed-term employment for three years. The postdoctoral position is full-time.

Start date is March 1, 2026, or by agreement.
