Occupational Therapist to Forensic Psychiatry

Together we develop Sahlgrenska University Hospital for a sustainable future. We are transforming healthcare with the goal of becoming Europe’s leading university hospital by 2032. Together with patients, we work for quality, accessibility, patient safety, research, education, and innovation – in a cohesive healthcare system in the Västra Götaland region. Our vision and goals aim for care of the highest quality, where the patient is always in focus. We provide healthcare locally and regionally, but also highly specialized care to patients across the country and abroad. Our employees are our strength and contribute to knowledge exchanges nationally and internationally. With digital tools and new working methods, we can simplify everyday life in the hospital and offer modern, accessible, and effective care of the highest quality.

Description

Forensic Psychiatry is a unique operation within Sahlgrenska University Hospital with the mission to provide individually tailored psychiatric care and rehabilitation to patients who have been sentenced to care.

The operation has inpatient facilities with enhanced security classification and also cares for patients deprived of liberty under other legislation when they require acute psychiatric specialist care. Forensic Psychiatry has a societal protection responsibility, where the goal is for patients to manage life in society without reoffending due to mental illness.

We are looking for a licensed occupational therapist who wants to work in a unique and inspiring work environment. You will be based in our activity house, located in the middle of the hospital adjacent to our beautiful inner park, and work with patients in both forensic psychiatric inpatient and outpatient care.

The activity house offers fantastic opportunities for rehabilitation and includes, among other things, a gym, swimming pool, art studio, e-sports, training kitchen, school, and café. Here, optimal conditions are created to support patients' recovery and development.

Sahlgrenska University Hospital offers continuous professional development in the form of training related to our work.

Responsibilities

As an occupational therapist, you will be part of our activity house, collaborating with occupational therapists, physiotherapists, activity pedagogues, and health educators. You will also be part of interdisciplinary teams around patients in the inpatient unit, together with other professional groups.

Together with your colleagues, you will be responsible for planning and implementing occupational therapy interventions for our patients. The work encompasses the entire occupational therapy process, from assessing ADL ability to treatment through various activities. Therefore, we are looking for an occupational therapist who has a particular interest in activity as part of the treatment. An important part of the role is to contribute to the work with discharge, housing, and employment through collaboration with external authorities.

The target group consists of patients within forensic psychiatry with complex psychiatric issues. This may include psychotic disorders, autism spectrum disorders, intellectual disabilities, and comorbidity with substance abuse issues.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who are a trained occupational therapist with a genuine interest in psychiatry and rehabilitation. As a person, you are calm, secure, and have a good ability to collaborate. You are driven, responsible, and flexible, with a solution-focused approach.

We place great emphasis on your personal suitability and your ability to handle complex issues.

Warm welcome with your application!
