Personal Assistant Wanted

About Me:

I am a 13-year-old boy living with my parents and younger sister in Norra Djurgårdsstaden, Stockholm. It's easy to get here by bus or subway to Ropsten and then a bus from there. The area is both central and close to nature - there are horses, cows, and sheep just a few hundred meters away.

I have a physical and cognitive disability and need a lot of support in my daily life, including with food, communication, and personal hygiene. I am a cheerful and lively person who loves music videos on my iPad, and when I'm out in the city, I enjoy taking the bus or car and watching the traffic. Most people I meet get a cheerful hello, a wave, and a smile.

Due to my disability, I need regular care and am sometimes hospitalized. When I feel unwell, I am of course not as cheerful, but as soon as the pain eases, I am back to my usual laughing self. Part of the job may also involve accompanying me to the hospital if we get that approved.

About You:

I am looking for a personal assistant who has worked with children before. It is also advantageous if you have a nursing assistant education as some care tasks are involved, such as medication management. Age and gender are not important to me. You who are applying for this assistant position should have a commitment and joy in working with younger people, be playful, empathetic, and attentive. You should be able to fit into my family. I would prefer that you have worked as a personal assistant before or have similar experience such as in schools, short-term housing, group homes, healthcare, etc.

Since I attend an adapted primary school and then KTT in normal cases, we would usually meet after school hours. However, my parents are considering reducing KTT in the event that I can spend more time with my assistants instead. You who are applying must be comfortable working in an environment where several people share and live in the same space, as we do in my family.

The Position:

  • Up to 80% employment is offered. There is room to agree on the exact working percentage.
  • Working hours are spread over day/evening, nights (twice a week). Weekdays and weekends. The length of shifts varies between 6 and 9 hours.
  • The position is to be filled immediately or by agreement.

To be employed, you must present valid ID, any documents that prove your right to work in Sweden, and an extract from the police register. This can be ordered at www.polisen.se (www.polisen.se). Choose the extract called Work with children with disabilities.
