The school is popular, many want their children here, and today the school has over 900 students in grades F-9 and over 100 employees. Sofia School is a school with high goal fulfillment. There is a good atmosphere at the school, and students receive high-quality education.

The school has had a full-time social worker for some time. With extra government funding to increase school attendance and reduce problematic school absenteeism, we now see an opportunity to offer an additional role in the school's student health.

Job Description

The school social worker will facilitate students' learning and promote their social development.

In your role as a school social worker, you will have primary responsibility for following up on students with high absenteeism, both to ensure that our routines work and to implement measures to address problematic school absenteeism.

In the division of labor between you and the other school social worker, you will be responsible for grades 7-9. You will be part of the EHT for the upper secondary school and belong to the working group for grade 7.

The main tasks in the role of school social worker at Sofia School include:

Social investigation/mapping and treatment work
Individual and group conversations with students, class work
Documentation of work with individual students
Parent meetings, network meetings
Supervision and consultation of school staff
Work with crisis management and conflict resolution
In the school's student health team and in collaboration with others, work to develop the school's working environment for students
Collaborate with social services, child and adolescent psychiatry, habilitation, leisure, and police

Qualifications

Social work education 140 credits

The work of the school social worker requires the ability to handle multiple perspectives in both direct student work and indirect preventive work. This requires a broad range of working methods and deep knowledge of children and adolescents and their development and situation in society. This means deep knowledge in behavioral and social sciences, social legislation, and social treatment work. Knowledge of the legislation governing school operations and confidentiality laws is also important.

Even though there will now be two school social workers, the school social worker is expected to independently take responsibility for their own professional work. This provides great freedom of action but also places demands on good judgment. It also requires that the school social worker takes responsibility for maintaining and deepening their professional competence and awareness of the surrounding world.

With two school social workers at the school, it will be important to have a good ability to collaborate for maximum efficiency and well-being.
