I need you as a companion/reliever because I have Down Syndrome and an intellectual disability, which makes it difficult for me to meet my basic needs and wishes on my own. If you are my companion/reliever, I would like you to also enjoy sports and being active with me.

For us to match, I need you to understand what is good for me and be creative so we can do fun activities together. Since I need this support in my daily life, you should have personal maturity to help me meet those needs.

Who am I?

I am an active and lively 17-year-old who loves sports and enjoys being active. Some afternoons and certain holidays, I have fixed activities such as bowling, Friskis o Svettis, digital group training, cheerleading, and walks in the woods. That’s when I need your help.

I participate in many sports and need support and help in several aspects of my daily life. For example:

• Packing my bag for Friskis o Svettis
• Helping me put on my clothes correctly
• Supporting me with my personal hygiene when needed
• I also need your support in planning what I will do and keeping myself occupied during the day.

It is important to me that you also appreciate being outdoors and walking and want to help me come up with fun and creative solutions for activities. I have been granted transportation services so we can easily go on activities and outings.

Who are you as a companion/reliever?

It is important for me and my family that you, as a reliever/companion, feel comfortable with us as a family since much of the work takes place at home. We hope you will feel and act like an extra family member, which is why we prefer that you are a woman. It is advantageous, but not necessary, if you have worked as a reliever in a home setting or a similar profession before and have knowledge about my disability, Down Syndrome. My mom will conduct an introductory session with us. The introduction aims to create security for both you as a reliever/companion and me as a client.

You speak and write Swedish fluently and have good stamina to keep up with all my activities.

About the position

12-30 hours/month, performed in the afternoons and on weekends. Start date as soon as possible.

According to the law on background checks and God Omsorg's policy, anyone working with minors must present an extract from the police's criminal and suspicion register before employment.
