Our Operations

The Academic Laboratory is responsible for qualified medical diagnostics, research, development, and education. We are divided into five different sections that operate within nine different laboratory medicine knowledge areas. We are a highly specialized and accredited operation according to ISO 15189. Our work is conducted with a strong focus on quality and sustainability, which is also reflected in our environmental certification according to ISO 14001.

Clinical genetics is a section that is in an expansive and strategically important development phase. In 2026, a new organization will be formed that also includes molecular pathology; this new organization will gather operations with a strong connection to genetics and precision diagnostics under a common umbrella. We perform diagnostics of both congenital and acquired genetic abnormalities and offer genetic counseling.

Clinical immunology and transfusion medicine is a section at the Academic Laboratory that provides round-the-clock laboratory services and medical expertise for blood transfusions and cell therapy, as well as preparations for organ transplants. We are inspected by IVO and the Medical Products Agency according to the regulations for blood operations and tissue establishments, as well as industry-specific EFI and JACIE.

Clinical chemistry and pharmacology operate 24/7 laboratories at the Academic Hospital in Uppsala and at the Hospital in Enköping. It is an exciting and highly specialized operation that performs diagnostics and provides guidance in the fields of chemistry and pharmacology. We also support patient-centered analysis operations in both inpatient and outpatient care.

Your Mission

As a quality coordinator, you will report to the deputy operations manager and be part of the section's management team. You will work to develop and strengthen our quality management system, and participate in and lead improvement and change efforts within the section and with other quality coordinators. Your tasks will include interpreting regulatory requirements, conducting internal and external audits, and educating and supporting in quality-related matters, based on applicable standards and regulations. You are expected to thrive in change and improvement work.

Your tasks will include:

  • Ensuring that processes meet regulatory requirements
  • Participating in the implementation and further development of the quality management system
  • Attending regulatory inspections and audits
  • Being responsible for the section's internal audits
  • Coordinating and following up on deviations from negative events and inspections
  • Drafting, reviewing, and approving instructions and documents for quality
  • Training in the quality area

We are looking for you

We are looking for someone with experience in quality management systems and standards, as well as good knowledge of healthcare. You have experience with GMP and/or ISO15189 or as QA within Life Science. Experience in genetics, molecular pathology, immunological and transfusion medicine, or clinical chemistry and pharmacology is advantageous.

You are a biomedical analyst or have a relevant scientific university education. You have good computer skills and must also be able to express yourself well in Swedish, both spoken and written, and have good language skills in English.

As a person, you are responsible, analytical, meticulous, and have the ability to prioritize, make assessments, and make decisions. You are proactive, take initiative, and are also a good educator who works to integrate the quality system as a natural part of the operation in a smooth and efficient manner. Furthermore, you communicate in an open and honest way, are attentive, and have the ability to create good relationships. You have good work capacity and energy and are passionate about improvement work with a focus on quality.
