Department of Clinical Sciences

Within the field of large animal surgery (which also includes, among other things, orthopedics), we conduct undergraduate education and research with a special focus on the horse species. We need to strengthen our teaching capacity in undergraduate education and are therefore announcing a position as a clinical veterinarian with a special focus on clinical teaching.

About the Job

The position is as a clinical veterinarian in large animal surgery. The tasks include practical and theoretical teaching, as well as examination of veterinary students in the field of large animal surgery for the horse species. Administrative tasks such as course leadership and institutional work may also occur.

The clinical teaching usually takes place at the University Animal Hospital, UDS, as well as on teaching horses and specimens.

As a member of the workgroup, you will help staff the horse department's care unit at UDS and also teach veterinary students in clinical practice. Outpatient services and on-call work may occur.

Your Background

We are looking for a veterinarian who is interested in large animal surgery for horses and who wants to further develop their clinical competence in the field under supervision. A Swedish veterinary license is a requirement. You should also be able to express yourself well in both spoken and written Swedish and English.

You are interested in educating veterinary students and participating in clinical research projects in the field. Experience in horse healthcare as well as experience and interest in clinical supervision of students is an advantage.

Good collaboration skills, flexibility, high motivation, and commitment are important, as well as the ability to work both independently and in a team. Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability and abilities.

The Department of Clinical Sciences is responsible for undergraduate education, research, and doctoral education in anesthesiology, diagnostic imaging, animal care, epidemiology, laboratory animal science, surgery, clinical chemistry, medicine, and reproduction.
