Neurosurgery Department
We are Uppsala University Hospital – one of Sweden's leading university hospitals. As a regional hospital and provider of highly specialized care, we offer services to two million people in Central Sweden. Something is always happening here – a new life is born, a grandmother is operated on, a colleague is hailed as a hero. With us, you will experience both tough challenges and fantastic events, in a strong community with colleagues. See parts of our reality in our photo exhibition; akademiskafotoutstallning.se (https://akademiskafotoutstallning.se). Welcome with your application!
Our Operations
We are looking for someone who wants to make a difference, work for development within your profession and the organization. The work is varied, as is the pace, and there is so much to learn. With us, surgeries are performed around the clock, both on an urgent and elective basis. As a surgical nurse in our clinic, you will be part of a team where you primarily assist in skull and spine surgery but also some peripheral nerve surgery and craniofacial surgery. During on-call hours, we also assist with minor ear-nose-throat surgeries and plastic surgeries.
We are one of seven neurosurgical clinics in Sweden and perform about 2000 surgeries per year, of which nearly half are urgent. Our operations provide care for patients both regionally and nationally, for people of all ages with various neurosurgical conditions. The department has six operating rooms equipped with high-tech medical technology. One of the rooms is our newly built intraoperative MR hybrid where we conduct operations together with radiology and anesthesia to enable an MRI examination of the patient during surgery. We also now use a robotic arm for biopsies and electrode placements. A large part of the surgeries is performed microsurgically, and there are great opportunities to follow the operation on large screens.
Your Qualifications
We are looking for someone who is either a licensed nurse with specialized training in surgical care or a student in the field. Previous experience in surgical care is seen as an advantage, but not a requirement. We place great emphasis on personal qualities.
Your Competence
We offer you a varied and stimulating job where your role is significant in collaboration with colleagues in the surgical team. You are an engaged and positive colleague who contributes to a good work environment. You are also responsible and motivated in your work.
We Offer
With us, you will be offered a permanent full-time position. Working hours are scheduled for days, evenings, weekends, and nights in a flexible schedule adapted to the operations. Compared to many other round-the-clock operations, there is little weekend work. Working hours can be discussed based on needs and preferences. There is an opportunity to reduce weekly working hours based on the schedule model we use.
The onboarding process is tailored to your needs. A probationary period may apply. Start date is to be agreed upon.
With us, you will receive benefits that make a difference, read about the benefits here (link) (https://regionuppsala.se/jobba-hos-oss/bli-var-nya-kollega/formaner/).
