Academic Primary Care Center Development
Our 1800 employees work with close care and health in Uppsala County. We offer a wide range of services within primary care. Our patients meet us at Region Uppsala's own health centers or within habilitation, and we provide advice over the phone via 1177. Education, research, and development are important to us, as we adapt our services based on the needs of the residents. We already offer mobile teams, video visits, and smart e-services.
Specialist Psychologists Supporting Primary Care
Since 2024, there are specialist psychologist services within primary care in Region Uppsala as a way to meet the population's needs regarding mental health. We are now looking for a colleague to join the specialist psychologist team already in place.
Your Mission
You will be part of the effort to provide the residents of Region Uppsala with accessible, high-quality, and equitable care for mental health issues. The area of work involves mental health issues that do not require psychiatric resources. The model “Stepwise Care for Mental Health” is part of Region Uppsala's strategic development work “Effective and Close Care 2030” and will be implemented across all health centers in the region starting in 2025.
By appointing specialist psychologists, we aim to strengthen the entire primary care's competence in managing mental health issues in general and in assessment and psychological treatment in particular.
The mission will have two main components in the coming years:
- To, together with colleagues at APC Development, develop a service aimed at increasing flow efficiency at health centers. This service involves specialist psychologists working with patients who have mental health issues that are difficult for health centers to manage. The mission is under development.
- To continue building and providing operational support to health centers together with colleagues at APC Development. Here, the specialist psychologists have a defined role in supporting the health center's psychosocial team and manager in implementing the Stepwise Care model through local quality meetings and data-driven improvement work.
In the coming years, the work supporting the implementation of the stepwise care model will take up a larger portion of the working hours, while the specialist psychologists, together with others working with the stepwise care model, will build up the clinical part with the goal of dividing time approximately 50–50 between the missions.
Your Qualifications
We are looking for someone who is a specialist psychologist in clinical adult psychology or psychological treatment/psychotherapy and has very good knowledge in CBT and psychological treatment of adults with psychiatric diagnoses managed in primary care. You have at least five years of experience working as a clinical psychologist, with at least two years in primary care for adults. You should have at least two years of supervisory experience, good knowledge of national knowledge governance, and relevant laws, regulations, and directives.
You also have experience in operational development, and it is advantageous if you are trained in improvement knowledge, have experience working process-oriented, and have experience in development work within primary care. Furthermore, it is advantageous to have experience in data-driven improvement work and in supporting others in it.
We place great emphasis on personal suitability, where you, to succeed in this mission, need to have good collaboration skills, pedagogical ability, and the ability to communicate both verbally and in writing. As a person, you are independent, responsible, structured, and driven, and you strive to deliver solutions.
To thrive in the role, you need to enjoy working with complex issues where you not only see the needs of the patient and the individual clinician but also the needs of the organization and the regional resident perspective. You need to be loyal to the region's stepwise care model and act in accordance with decisions made, recognizing the value of spreading the care model.

The mission of APC Development is to support operations in achieving established goals. We work to ensure that the county's four hundred thousand residents receive good and equitable care.
