Field of Psychiatry

We are Akademiska sjukhuset – one of Sweden's leading university hospitals. As a regional hospital and provider of highly specialized care, we offer services to two million people in Central Sweden. Something is always happening here – a new life is born, a grandmother is operated on, a colleague is celebrated as a hero. With us, you will experience both tough challenges and fantastic events, in a strong community with colleagues. See parts of our reality in our photo exhibition; akademiskafotoutstallning.se (http://akademiskafotoutstallning.se). Welcome with your application!

Our Operations

The affective section's pre-hospital acute psychiatric mobile unit (PAM affective) started operations in October 2022. Here, a department head, an assistant department head, specialist nurses, doctors, and a social worker work together. We are now expanding our operations and are pleased to be able to hire more staff. The unit works across sections with urgent and planned delineated assignments with patients who have affective problems. On weekdays without holidays, quick assessments, treatments, and follow-up interventions are offered in the patient's home, at residences, or wherever the patient is located. The unit has a close collaboration with existing psychiatric outpatient care and inpatient care. In the future, closer collaborations and new forms of care are also planned. The unit is based in the Psychiatry House at Akademiska sjukhuset, while patient work takes place at other locations. Working hours are scheduled during the day on weekdays without holidays.

At Akademiska sjukhuset, adult psychiatry is organized into four sections, where PAM Affectiva is part of the section for affective disorders. We receive assignments from all sections within our operational area for patients with affective problems. To continue driving modern psychiatric care with high quality, we actively work with supervision, consultation, education, assessment, and treatment through evidence-based methods as well as follow-up and evaluation. Continuous development of the operations is a given for us.

Your Mission

Together with your colleagues, you will work with the pre-hospital care of patients with affective problems. Your workdays will vary, and the tasks are diverse and stimulating, largely through new digital platforms. You will work alongside other professionals and conduct both urgent and planned patient meetings in various environments. You will regularly participate in team and treatment conferences within the section to collaborate and receive assignments where the unit's efforts are needed. Your work includes assessments, triage, and prioritization of the unit's assignments. The unit uses specially adapted vehicles to hold patient conversations in the car when necessary, and you always go on assignments in pairs where you jointly assess and provide treatment. As a specialist nurse, you, together with other specialist nurses, are responsible for leading and developing the unit and psychiatric care. You bring a nursing perspective to the interprofessional team and provide collegial supervision to new colleagues and students.

Your Qualifications

We are looking for someone who is a specialist nurse in psychiatry or a nurse with at least 1 year of psychiatric experience and has curiosity about psychiatric diseases and complex nursing assessments as well as the execution of measures. Experience and knowledge of management at an overarching level, organization of supervision for students, and experience in quality and development work within psychiatric care are desirable and meritorious. A driver's license is a requirement.

Your Competence

You are confident in your professional role, used to working independently as well as in teams, with a focus on collaboration. You enjoy rapid changes in tasks and are solution-oriented. You see what is best for the patient from a person-centered perspective.

We Offer

The position is a fixed-term full-time employment until May 2027 with the possibility of extension, and the start date is according to agreement. As an employee with us, we offer a personal development and competence plan and regular continuing education. It is encouraged that you are interested in operational development and research. Supervision will be offered. A probationary period may be applied. Before employment, extracts from the suspicion and criminal records will be taken. You will also fill out a health declaration.

With us, you will receive benefits that make a difference; read about the benefits here (https://regionuppsala.se/jobba-hos-oss/bli-var-nya-kollega/formaner/).
