Grow into the Role

As a newly graduated nurse with us at Akademiska sjukhuset, you will have varied tasks and a secure and educational start in your new profession. Sometimes the step between education and working life feels large, and to give you the opportunity to grow into your new role, you will become part of our Clinical Development Year (KUÅ) during your first year with us at Akademiska sjukhuset.

KUÅ is a mandatory professional introduction for newly graduated nurses employed in Region Uppsala, aimed at sharpening your clinical skills, networking with other recent graduates, and having reflection time with experienced nurses. Our Operations

Welcome to the Gastrointestinal and Nephrology Department 100B2, where we treat and investigate patients with gastrointestinal, liver, and kidney diseases. Many of our patients come from other regions, and we are very proud to have been granted permission to conduct national highly specialized care in some of our diagnoses. This means that we meet requirements for competence, availability, and work in multidisciplinary teams concerning the most advanced care within these diagnoses.

The Gastrointestinal and Nephrology Department 100B2 is also one of the hospital's development departments, which means we have a special mission to develop care by testing new ideas, working methods, and digital tools. The goal is to improve the work environment and work safely for patients.

Your Competence

You are a nursing student starting semester 6. You are interested in our specialties and want to start working in the Gastrointestinal and Nephrology Department 100B2 after graduation. We place great importance on personal suitability, such as being responsible and motivated in your work. You have a flexible and curious attitude and good collaboration skills. You remain calm and controlled under stress or in pressured situations and focus on the right things. You are meticulous and strive to meet goals and quality standards.

Introduction and Competence Development

As a newly graduated nurse, it is important that you receive a good introduction and opportunities for competence development, so in addition to KUÅ, we offer:

• individually tailored introduction and regular follow-ups with our educational nurse.
• as a newly graduated nurse, you will have an assigned mentor for each shift during the initial period.
• Job shadowing in our other operations within gastroenterology and nephrology to gain an understanding of our entire operation, e.g., dialysis, day care for gastroenterology, and the gastrointestinal outpatient clinic.
• lectures every week, often based on patient cases.
• scheduled training tours.

We Offer

We offer you a permanent position as a nursing assistant. Upon submission of your license, the position will be converted to a permanent position as a nurse.

You commit to working 12 months with us after graduation. There is an opportunity to work as a nursing assistant during your studies, but it is not a requirement.

Your new position will, unless otherwise agreed, involve full-time work with a duty obligation around the clock, known as rotational duty, but you must have worked at least one year before you can work nights.
