Department of Anesthesia, Surgery, and Intensive Care

At our department of anesthesia, surgery, and intensive care, we care for patients and families facing critical moments. For some, we are their last hope. For others, we create the opportunity for a better life. Whether you work in the sterile technology unit, in one of our mobile units, on the intensive care unit, or in the operating room, you play a decisive role in critical moments. Welcome to apply and become part of our team.

Do you want to join our team and make a difference for our small, sick patients?

Are you a registered nurse interested in working with our small intermediate care patients at the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit? We have BIMA (Intermediate Care) positions at our Pediatric Intensive Care Department. We are a staff group characterized by great commitment and extensive knowledge. You will play an important role in the collaboration where different professions work together for the child's best interest. We have close cooperation with Akademiska Children's Hospital. Scientific studies are ongoing at the department, with nurses directly involved.

We are seeking nurses who want to make a difference for the children we care for. We work in a family-centered manner from a person-centered perspective. This means that every child is seen as an individual and that the child's guardians are essential in the nursing work to ensure the children feel safe. You are welcome to shadow at BIVA to meet us and gain insight into our care for sick children.

Our Operations

The Pediatric Intensive Care Department (BIVA) provides highly specialized intensive care and intermediate care for children within surgery, medicine, neurology, trauma, burns, and infections. The working method is team-based, and great importance is attached to working in a family-centered manner, as the child's relatives are an important part of the care. Within the staff group, there is great commitment and extensive knowledge. We care for children primarily aged 0–16, but also up to 18 years.

As an intermediate care nurse at BIVA, you will work together in a care team consisting of doctors, nurses, assistant nurses, and paramedical personnel, close to the sick child and their family/relatives.

MIG/PIG (Mobile Intensive Care Group / Post-Intensive Care Group) has recently been launched at BIVA. We are a department looking forward, with the child at the center. Our mission is to help severely ill children.

Your Qualifications

You are a licensed nurse with a strong desire and interest in working with highly specialized care for sick children. Specialist training in pediatric care and/or experience in caring for sick children is a merit but not a requirement.

At the pediatric intensive care unit, it is important to be able to distinguish between the personal and the professional. You should dare to take initiative, be able to work independently, but also ask for help when needed. At BIVA, the work environment is important, and we are looking for a nurse who is engaged, positive, and enjoys collaborating across professional boundaries. If this applies to you, combined with curiosity and thoroughness, you may be the right fit for us. Together with your colleagues, you will create a good work environment and contribute a positive attitude to the work group.

Your Assignment

You always put the patient first and are responsible and motivated in your work. You will become part of a skilled team that supports and helps each other while also working independently. Since changes in pace are part of daily life on an intensive care unit, we want you to be prepared for rapid adjustments.

MIG/PIG assignments will also be part of your duties.

Do you want to be part of our work group? Then apply for this position. We place great importance on personal suitability.

We Offer

We offer an interesting and varied job caring for sick children in need of intermediate care. You are welcome to shadow at BIVA to meet us and gain insight into the care we provide.

We can offer you a permanent full-time position, with a start date to be agreed upon. Selection and appointment may occur before the final application date, so do not wait to send your application to us. A probationary period may be offered.

You will receive tailored onboarding based on your competence and experience. If you already know you are interested in continuing your career in intensive care, we can offer you a path to reach your goals.

Region Uppsala places all permanent staff on military reserve duty based on the needs of the total defense. This implies no obligations for the individual employee in peacetime but is solely a planning measure.

This therefore applies to all who will work close to patients, even if the current tasks are not intended to mainly involve work with the above-mentioned patient groups.
