Academic Hospital offers the opportunity for a study salary for nurses admitted to the midwifery program in autumn 2026 who wish to work at the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) after completing their education. The offer also applies to studies conducted at universities other than Uppsala University. It is primarily aimed at nurses who are permanently employed, or who, in connection with recruitment to the education, enter into a permanent employment contract at the NICU, Academic Children's Hospital, Region Uppsala. The hospital prioritizes applicants who have not previously received a study salary during specialist training within Region Uppsala.
Our Operations
The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit provides highly specialized intensive care, intermediate care, and neonatal surgery for the region's smallest and/or sickest newborns. As a midwife at the NICU, you will work with children in need of both intensive and intermediate care. The work always focuses on the child and the family.

We Offer
- Your study salary corresponds to 100% of the base salary (maximum 32,000 SEK/month). The study salary is accrual-based for vacation pay and is not paid during holidays or study breaks.
- We will offer you employment at the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. The position is full-time, with rotating shifts (day, evening, night, weekends) based on an attractive points model.
- After completing your education, you will continue to work as a midwife in neonatal care.
- The HR Director at Academic Hospital decides on the study salary in each individual case. The hospital prioritizes applicants who have not previously received a study salary during specialist training within Region Uppsala.
