Our Operations

Surgical Ward 70C is one of four departments within the Department of Surgery and Urology. We provide highly specialized surgical care focusing on transplantation surgery, liver/pancreas, and esophagus/stomach surgery. Most of our operations are planned, but we also conduct a certain amount of emergency and subacute care with direct admissions to the ward from our collaborating regions.

The ward also includes the transplantation clinic, where our patients come for investigations and follow-ups before and after transplantation. The clinic is partially staffed by personnel from the ward. The ward has 24 beds staffed by a large and dedicated team of nurses, nursing assistants, doctors, pharmacists, and other important health professionals who work together in teams around the patients. We also have nurses with specialist functions such as specialist nurses and section responsible nurses, who work to drive and develop care for our patients. We work with the framework Fundamentals of Care as our value base and with a clear patient-centered approach where the patient is in focus.

We actively work on the development and further education of our staff and invest in ensuring that you as a new employee receive a good introduction and training to have the best possible conditions in your work, regardless of whether you are new to the role or experienced.

With us, you will have a developing and enjoyable job where you can be part of a committed and professional team with a welcoming and permissive work climate. We have a good habit, knowledge, and routine in receiving newly hired nurses, which means that you will have a safe and good start to your career with us, regardless of your previous level of experience.

Your Mission

We offer you as a nurse a developing and varied job where you will gain broad knowledge in surgical care. Over time, you will have the opportunity to deepen your knowledge within our medical sections and further develop through internal and external training and opportunities for other tasks. We offer the possibility of paid specialist training in surgery as well as rotation services to clinics, research, and special assignments.

Your tasks include caring for postoperative patients, which involves both practical tasks such as administering medications, infusions, and injections, and managing pain pumps, as well as more administrative tasks such as patient education and identifying care needs and risk areas. Together with our nursing assistants, you will plan and lead the work with the patient in focus.

We offer a permanent full-time position with a start date according to agreement. Working hours are scheduled for days, evenings, weekends, and nights. Night work is relevant only after you have settled into the ward work properly after consultation with the manager. We work with healthy scheduling, and you will have the opportunity to influence your schedule. We have scheduled training days four times a year and weekly lectures for continuous professional development.

As a newly graduated nurse, you will participate in a clinical development year (KUÅ) during your first year as a nurse, corresponding to about 20% of your working time. We also offer you guidance and mentorship from our experienced nurses and specialist nurses during your initial period of employment.

Your Qualifications

We are looking for you who are a licensed nurse. Both newly graduated and those with longer experience are welcome to apply. Previous experience in surgery or emergency care is an advantage but not a requirement. Personal suitability is highly valued.

Your Competence

  • You are proactive and enjoy varied tasks
  • You like to learn new tasks and working methods
  • You are empathetic, cooperative, and enjoy working in teams
  • You are responsible and able to adapt to different situations
