Controller for the Economic Management Unit

The City Office supports the municipal executive board in leading, coordinating, and overseeing the entire municipal organization. We are looking for a controller for the Economic Management Unit at the City Office, who, together with colleagues, will further develop our city-wide investment and local supply processes, directly reporting to Malmö City's budget manager.

Responsibilities

Your tasks will include:

  • developing and implementing the city's model for investment management based on the municipality's management model and monitoring the city's overall investment portfolio
  • participating in the work on local strategic issues related to the long-term investment plan
  • preparing matters for the municipal executive board, producing decision-making materials, and presenting various issues related to investments and local supply
  • leading and participating in development projects
  • conducting environmental monitoring
  • independently carrying out qualified analyses and monitoring of costs and revenues as well as key figures
  • participating in the city's planning, budgeting, and monitoring of the city's overall investments from an economic perspective
  • providing advice and training to the city's administrations on issues related to economic management and strategic local supply.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone with an academic degree in economics. You have many years of relevant experience in qualified controller work, preferably with experience navigating investment and project controlling in a politically governed organization. You have good knowledge of economic management, financing models, and an understanding of governance in complex organizations.

You have experience independently developing and delivering training in economics and process work. You have several years of experience in developing and improving routines for operational and financial monitoring. We would like you to have previous experience working with local supply issues and leading and implementing processes. You have several years of experience preparing matters and have good knowledge of Swedish and English, both spoken and written. You have good system skills and excellent knowledge of Excel.

As a person, you are structured, analytical, and problem-solving, and you thrive in a role where you can take responsibility and work proactively on improvements. You have a good ability to see the whole in complex contexts but also enjoy delving into details when necessary. You find it easy to collaborate and support colleagues and other parts of the organization. You contribute to a positive and inclusive work climate where knowledge and experiences are shared.

About the Workplace

The Economic Department of the City Office has a municipal-wide responsibility for economic management, financing, accounting, monitoring, business systems, and strategic purchasing operations. The department's mission is to support the municipal executive board in the leadership, coordination, and oversight of municipal operations. The position of controller is located in the Economic Management Unit, which is responsible for the municipality's overall economic management and strategic local supply.

The City Office directs, challenges, and strengthens the development power in the organization, in the city, and in the region. We are the administration of the municipal executive board and work with a holistic perspective close to the city's leadership. The City Office consists of seven different departments and has a total of about 300 employees. Our departments work in a wide range of areas, and the administration has many employees with high specialist competence.
